I'd be happy to lend some info on UC-Davis for anyone interested--I'm a current intern and am happy with my decision of ranking UCD#1 last year.

Is Area III still the stinking pit of badness and evil that it used to be?😀

some things will never change...i have a soft spot in my heart for UC Davis since i did an away rotation there, but DAMN. :scared:
😛

(and thanks for your offer Cal2Lane, i agree that it's a great place to train!)

Area III, aka, the penalty box, is really the bastard son of area I--lots of sickies hiding in Beds 39,40 . . always deceiving.

First week of internship one of my classmates was working up a 16 week pregnant vag bleeder back in Area III. Patient had gotten up and gone to that corner bathroom by the back door. The intern went to check on the patient and knocked on the door. The patient threw open the door screaming with the 16 week still born hanging by the umbilical cord between her legs and then started chasing my classmate around the room. Welcome to Area III!

Now we are so busy, there are often times so many prisoners triaged back to the hallways in front of Area 3 that they end up right in front of the Peds ED entrance. I get a chuckle seeing parents bring their kids in and it's like walking down the plank with people in orange jump suits looking at you. Somewhere in the hospital the admin folks must be seriously worrying about the patient satisfaction scores...

I love UC Davis EM!
