Anyone have any experience with the University of Colorado Denver post-baccalaureate program? I received an email inviting me to apply but I can't find much information online about it. Any current students?

This is the info in the email:

The University of Colorado Denver post-baccalaureate program started in 1995. The program was initiated as a way to attract a more diverse class to the School of Medicine. The Admissions Committee of the School of Medicine appreciated that there were a number of students in the medical school applicant pool, both from groups under-represented in medicine and from rural areas, whose academic and experiential background were very solid, but with additional time, would ensure greater readiness in achieving excellence upon entering medical school.

We established a one year, non-degree, science coursework program for selected students. The program takes place on the University of Colorado Denver – Downtown Campus. Accepted students are guaranteed admission to the School of Medicine for the following August if they complete the program successfully. Successful completion is defined as taking at least 24 hours of science coursework, with at least half of the hours at the graduate level. Each student must attain a GPA at or above 3.5 with all A’s and B’s for the program year. Participants will also be required to take the MCAT. The program is administered jointly by the Pre-Professional Office at the UCD campus and the Admissions Office of the School of Medicine. Faculty advisors are Kent Nofsinger, MD and Charles Ferguson, PhD; both on the UCD faculty.

We interview students who are invited and who express interest in this program and will select a cohort for participation during the academic year 2013/2014. This program was designed for students who, in the judgment of the Admissions Committee, have strong potential to become excellent physicians.

And this is the only mention of it I can find online: http://www.ucdenver.edu/about/departments/DiversityAndInclusion/programs/Pages/graduate.aspx

This is a good opportunity for Colorado resident URM students. It is an extremely small program; I believe they take 10 or fewer students per year (5 this past year, I think), so you may not hear much buzz on SDN about it. Their admissions staff are nice and helpful, so don't hesitate to contact them. There is also a similar program for Dental students that is linked to the University of Colorado's dental school.

I received an e-mail for pre-dental as well. The spots are very limited from my understanding and it is a program you should consider if you were rejected from med schools this round. It is up to you whether you want to spend a year of extra courses or whether you want to just apply again next round. The thing I do like about this program is if you get through their requirements it is an automatic acceptance. I am not entirely sure how many students are actually into it or try applying.

Anyone have anymore info or experiences with this program?

I recently got accepted in the post-bacc program. It takes 10 total (although I believe its 5 in medicine and 5 in dental).

When did you hear back from them for an interview? Their application cycle closed around February 15th this year.
