Hi I am an incoming freshman at UC Irvine and I was just confused about what classes at UCI fulfill Medical School course requirements. Can anyone give me a rundown of the specific courses that will satisfy these requirements? (e.g. bio 93, chem 1a, etc.) Thank you. 🙂

bio 93, 94
--for bio requirements--

chem1A-B-C (with labs)
--for g.chem requirements--

physics 3A-B-C (with labs) or physics 7A-B-D-E (with labs)
--for physics requirements--

This list doesn't include all the med school requirements like the writing. however, you can definitely take all of the above your first year and satisfy a major chunk of your pre-requisites. Honestly, though, if you're a bio major you'll satisfy almost all the requirements naturally.

Bio 93, 94, 97, 98, 99, 100LW for lab..and any of the other labs M1xx, E1xx, N1xx

Chem: 1A, 1B, 1C; H2A, H2B, H2C; 51A, 51B, 51C; H52A, H52B, H52C (all with labs)

Physics: 3a, 3b, 3c; 7a, 7b, 7d, 7e (not too familiar with this). (also, with labs)

I would suggest Humanities Core Course, as that is a "double whammy"--you get 4 units of writing, 4 units of humanities. Load up on the social sciences too, just so that you can satsify requirements for most.

I found being in the campuswide honors program to be very helpful in forcing these requirements so you not only have diverse education, but also you end up satisfying a lot of grad school requirements!

Feel free to PM me with any questions you may have!

Thanks guys!

I'm not sure if he teaches undergrad or not, but if you can take a class with Professor Riegle...he's a pretty solid teacher. He helped with with a few questions on a practice MCAT that I took while I was down there.
