Wow! The same thing happened to me! I had a dream Dr. Peterson called me and told me I had been accepted and wanted to know if I would be going to their 2nd look in a couple weeks. It's been almost 7 weeks now though...still hoping...

anyone know when/how often the committee meets? thursdays? fridays? once a week? once every two weeks?

Most days you have lecture from 8-12. About once a week you have an afternoon class (small group for genetics for 6 wks, or neuro lab a couple of times or a CF lecture). Once a week you also have CF - either standardized patients or preceptorship - this will take 2-4 hrs depending on which you have (preceptorship is 4 hrs and is once a month or so). When anatomy starts 1/5 of the days you only have to be there for 2 hrs because you get presented to and go on your merry way. 1/5 dissections you stay the whole time and often longer to finish your dissection and learn it well enough to teach it.

As far as classes (not counting CF [the doctoring class] which is all year)- in August you just have Biochem and MCB (they're a combined course but separate grades) (1.5 month). They ease you into med school. Its nice because biochem is quick and painless and you have TONS of social time the first month to get to know classmates. The bad thing is it makes your MSI school year 10.5 months long - by April you're feeling pretty burnt out. Sometime in September you start Genetics (about 3 months), Histo (lasts until April), and Epi/Biostats (online courses lasts a month). Later in September you will also start Immunology (about 2 months). When genetics ends Physio starts (lasts until April). And right after Thanksgiving you start Anatomy (lasts until the end of the year). In spring you start Neuro after Spring break and just have 2 classes (anatomy and neuro) for the rest of the year.

Congrats on getting in ErinMG and rawr88 (I'm assuming you got in too...?)!!! I interviewed the week before and I still haven't heard anything!
 
YUP! Making plans for revisit weekend right now...so excited!

Thanks. Maybe try to call them tomorrow. I called the office earlier this week to check on the status of my application/when a decision would be made. At least they might be able to tell you when a decision will be made. Good luck!

I actually already called two different times. They just told me very nonspecifically that their admissions process is on a rolling basis and they weren't sure when they'd get to my file. At least the second time I called, the person I talked to seemed positive about my file. Hopefully I'll be getting a phone call soon...
 
I just called UCI and was told that I was put on the alternate list 🙁 Best of luck to everyone else. I interviewed on 3/17 🙁

Thats not the end of the world - I'd guess 1/3 or so of our class came off the waitlist. Good luck.

That sounds very promising 🙂 Hopefully this year turns out the same.

Any advice for getting off of the waitlist? Does anyone know how the Waitlist works at UCI? Ranked? Unranked? Any info would be appreciated.

My status changed as of today 4/21. Perhaps no news is good news. Best of luck and let us know your outcome.

I just got put on the alternate list also 🙁 Hopefully there'll be a lot of movement this year...

I was put on the alternate list too. It appears as though they did a mass status change for those that were still undecided.
 
does anyone know if UCI allows students to defer for a year?
 
I am in the alternate list too. Does anyone know how many people are waitlisted? do they rank the people and stuff like that?

I'm not really sure, you can call and ask. I would guess they would only allow deferal for really legit reasons.

After everyone interviewed with Irvine, did your Interview status on the website change from interview scheduled before you heard anything, or did it stay on scheduled?

Thanks for the update. Do you know this because yours was posted or because the Financial Aid Director said so? Mine's not up. But, I turned in all my forms right before the deadline, so perhaps they haven't gotten to my file yet?
 
Yeah mine is up but I turned my fin aid stuff in back in Feb.

Mine stayed on scheduled. I got the call on a Friday, and then the status changed to "accepted" the following monday

Subsidized is always 8500.

But you UCI MS1s get more than the usual Stafford limit because UCI's first year is 10 months. Which increases the Stafford limit to like 48k or something.

Not sure the exact numbers but last year I took the full amount of loans out in Stafford loans - I had no grad pluses. Subsidized max is always 8500. But the unsubsidized was enough to cover the rest of my 45k. So at least you don't have the 8.5% grad plus loans.
