I can't comment on the details of fellow workload, etc.... but the program's got a great rep and tons of research opportunities if that's your cup of tea. As you likely know, JACC has been based at UCSD for 7 years or so and there's plenty of nationally/internationally known faculty there. Basic research is probably somewhat stronger than clinical research.
