UC Secondaries/Good reading suggestion?

To all the early birds who got their apps in early last year, when did you get the notice from UCSF and/or UCLA to complete and send in their secondaries. I know some schools say to get it in 10 days or something from the time you get the notice, and I'm worried because I'm going to be gone on vacation early July til the beginning of August. I don't want to hurt my chances because of vacation.

On a lighter note, anyone have suggestions on some good books I can read while on vacation. It's going to be a long plane ride and lots of down time. I need something to do.

I was in a similar situation last year and I simply called Noemi and told her I could not get it in within 10 days and she told me to just get it in as soon as I could. Will there be anyone home to get the notice should it come while you are gone & will they be able to contact you? If so, I would say have them get ahold of you, then you can just call or e-mail Noemi to let her know when exactly you will have the secondary stuff in. I don't see it being a problem.
