Has anyone heard of anyone getting accepted to UCD's GEP via ABP?

I am also very interested in this...all I heard is that they sent out first round of offers already but I don't know if that is for GEP or other years...

A friend of mine mentioned that he was accepted this morning. He lives in Toronto.

Yes I heard this too, if you didn't get one from UCD then you didn't get a first round offer from them (I called ABP)

Ya I received an acceptance from both UCD and UCC about a week-and-a-half to 2 weeks ago (for the GEP), but I will be going to RCSI next year. So I'm guessing since we are supposed to respond within 21 days after receiving our letter of acceptance... some more acceptances from UCD and UCC will go out early next month.

Hey Jake, was just wondering what made you choose RCSI over UCD

Well there's lots of reasons I like RCSI, but to answer your question more directly, I guess one of the reasons I chose it over the other schools is the fact that RCSI actually cares enough to send people over to interview you. As a by-product of the interview, I was forced to research the school more carefully and noticed a lot of things I like about that school (one being the emphasis the school places on early clinical exposure). Moreover, to my knowledge, RCSI was the first to institute a graduate entry medical program... so they would have had the opportunity to get more feedback from actual students about what works and what doesn't.

I also know two people there (1 graduate who started his residency in Internal Med at McMaster University; the other going into 4th year) and both said that RCSI has people dedicated to helping you get a placement for residency back in North America.

Curious as to why you guys would rather go to UCD? Is it just the difference in tuition?

UCD seems like a "convenient" choice- lower tuition rate aside, it's located in a good city that is more readily known than Cork (at least from most non-Irish/UK/Europeans' perspectives), and has a good reputation. As a University College, UCC seems like it would be comparable to UCD, but it's harder to find the same amount of info on it vs RCSI.

A good part of my concern is the school's ability to prepare people for the USMLE and matching back home in the US- I know RCSI has been very successful in doing so. I guess I'm struggling to decide how significant this success is vs. UCC and how much it'll pay off in the long run. What one pays for RCSI + costs of living potentially amounts to twice the sum for a US student attending their own state school...

For those who got acceptances, do you think you could share your stats? Thx

I got my acceptance letter today from UCD for the 4-year program.
I'm from Ontario, Canada.

Do you guys know if Limerick & Cork have sent out their acceptance letters? Have yet to hear back from them.

Hi there. Just wondering if mine was a conditional offer that i recieved via email a few days ago, would ucd still send a letter? Or are letters only sent for unconditional offers?

Just received an update email from ABP stating I was accepted to UCD for the GEP program. Just thought I'd send out an "FYI".

GL to everyone applying.

Congrats! Do you mind sharing stats?? It's pretty late so I'd consider you one of the lucky chosen ones at this moment 🙂
