So I'm gonna be taking VMD425 with your class next quarter, and I was just wondering about the curricular resources. I've been added to the site on CERE, is that where the notes usually end up in your experience or is there another resource I'm missing?

I'm a 2011'er....425...is that genetics??? Yeah, they'll put everything on CERE and if you have trouble accessing anything, Seth or Mike in the IT dept will fix you up.

I think it's a device they gave us at the beginning of the year that lets you respond to multiple choice questions during lecture. You can probably get one from the tech guys.

There are different types of those that operate using completely different mechanisms (RF vs IR) so I guess I have to ask what kind the vet school uses specifically, and I guess I have to do it tomorrow!

Thanks!

What's a PRS?

Swear to God that was my thought when we got the email, too. But I didn't send an email back asking because I figured 130 other people would be doing the same thing. Glad you asked (and glad Chaco knew) because I'd already forgotten by now.

I've never used 'clickers', I was pretty surprised when I heard from my SO in med school, that her class was about to revolt on the whole issue.

Apparently, gross inaccuracies in the way answers are registered, not being able to check what you actually hit (did it register the button you clicked), did it even go through...

You guys see any of these problems? Or is this a more isolated issue with maybe one specific brand?

The ones they used in the general bio class I was a TA for this past quarter did confirm what answer they pressed, at least. I don't know which kind they were though.

So far, we haven't used them for anything graded. See ya Monday!

I was wayyy too ADD to use clickers (we used them for a statistics class) I would always get way behind because I would get bored waiting for the next question to come up, and my mind would wander, haha. I like to go at my own pace..

Is it like an iClicker? I was hoping I'd leave those dumb things behind in my undergrad.

The prof stopped using them on day 2. They sucked and didn't work right.

I thought you were going to MN. Are you considering UCD now? (BTW...not that it's any of my business, but if your dad's going to pay for UCD tuition and fees...take him up on it!) /end stalking. 🙂

I'm leaning more towards Davis now that I saw the loan interest different between the two, the 7,000$ a year difference turns in to a much larger sum once you figure in interest. That and my former/still/ I dont know what we are boyfriend offered to pay the tuition without any obligations whatso ever he just figured the price would make up for flying out to Mn all the time to see me versus a $45 flight from home.

I'm trying to get a tour of the hospital (would like one of the actual academic area as well but dont know who to contact for that) but have called Nancy like 5 times and left a message and haven't heard. I had already sent in my deposit at Mn but unless something happens I can't really justify giving up someone paying for my tuition.

I'd be happy to show you around if you're having trouble finding someone else to do it. I'm probably not a good hospital tour guide, but I have friends who likely would be. And I can give a pretty good tour of the major buildings that we've used so far this year (Valley Hall, Schalm, microscopy lab building, anatomy lab building, and Gourley where we have some hands on animal stuff).

GeeQued: I've worked in 3 areas in the VMTH, so if you can't get ahold of someone to give you a better tour than the one they give the GP, I would be glad to help (only if you or VAgirl can't find a DVM student to do it - I'm sure they'll give you a better idea of it from that point of view than I could 😀 )

Thanks I'd definitely appreciate it! As of now I'm not sure when Ill be coming up but sometime in April/May (stupid work always gets in the way) but I just have to see what weekend/days I can get off
