Has anyone recieved an invite for an interview at UCF yet? If so, what is your GRE score? I know that a high GRE is one of the main criteria the school looks at when choosing their candidates. Any news or info is appreciated.

I haven't heard anything from the school either. I don't believe the school has rolling admission so they may be waiting until after the application deadline.

I applied last year and received an interview, although not accepted. My GRE score is 750 Quantitative 470 Verbal 3.5 Writing. I have applied again this year, and like MSR said I don't believe they offer interviews till after 12/15. The interview is actually pretty casual. It is done in groups, they asked pretty straightforward questions, and followed it with a written portion. Good to luck to you both and hope we all get accepted!

Best of wishes and thanks for the feedback!
Hey MrDPT120 is UCF and USF the only programs you applied to or want to go to? Its seems with that GRE stat you could of been accepted elsewhere, were your GPA's below a 3.5? What did the dept. say in regards to why you were not accepted or what you can do to better your score ? (I read one of your old post back in Feb.)

Hey Burly,

I am applying to UCF (1st Choice), USF, UF, and FIU. Regrettably, I wasn't the greatest student during Undergrad, so my last 60 hours GPA is a 3.0. However, my prerequisite GPA is a 3.7 and this year I have about 120 hours in a variety of settings.

Last year when I applied my prerequisites weren't finished yet and I only had 50 observation hours. Additionally when I spoke with the UCF about my application they said my undergrad GPA definitely had an adverse impact. The director at the time informed me to address my subpar GPA in my personal statement, seek out more observation hours and get two letters of rec from PT's, all of which I did this year.

I am hoping the improvements will help get an acceptance this time around! And that you both will be fellow classmates in the UCF DPT class of 2015!

Thanks MrDPT. I applied to Miami and FIU also. Recieved interviews from both still waiting for their decisions. What was the essay question asked last year at UCF?

Science pre-req = 3.45
Cum GPA = 3.75
GRE = 1140
Work & Observation Hrs = over 3000 in outpatient & acute

If I recall it gave a situation where you arrived to work at an outpatient clinic and the receptionist didn't show that day. The question was along the lines of how would you handle it?

Congrats on the interviews! When did you apply to FIU and what was their interview like?

I got a call today inviting me for an interview, they offered me 4 days to pick from, Nov. 30th, Dec. 2nd, Dec. 7th, and Dec. 9th. I'll probably have to go with Dec. 9th since it's pretty short notice. Anyone else out there?

Hey I just a call a today from April at UCF, she left me a voice message to call for an interview. Did not get the list of dates but I assume it will be the same times so thank you for posting them.

Hey MrDPT,
FIU interview questions, Why do you want to be a PT? Strengths and Weakness, give 1 example of when you had to be a leader. Why should we choose you versus another candidate? I heard from angl88 (a recent FIU interviewee on Nov 1st) and they let her know 2 weeks after the interview and gave her 2 weeks to decide.

Also applied to UCF and got the interview call today. Very excited and will be interviewing on the 9th. I was a little worried because I'm weak in a few areas, but my GRE is pretty good, and my grades have trended upwards quite a bit the last two years. Good luck to everybody who applied!

For those receiving interview's - how long did it take to process your application.....when did you apply?

I applied August 9th and recieved a notice on Sep. 26th from Samantha Moya that they recieved my application. It said that they anticipate the interview process to begin in Nov. and carry through Jan. if chosen for an interview they would contact via phone or e-mail. I was contacted by phone on Fri 11/18 for an interview.
Hope this Helps you!

Submitted my application on October 25th, heard back from them on November 10th about one of my Pre-Reqs, then got a call on the 18th for an interview.

I was actually lucky enough to be able to sit down with an admissions director at UCF PT to talk back in August. I got a ton of info that I can share. They typically receive around 300 applications. Their selection process uses a scoring system that weighs every factor, with GRE and upper division GPA being weighted the most. She actually showed me the stats sheet for all of lasts years accepted students, the average GRE was an 1196, GPA 3.6, hours 168, age 24, and of course what they determined to be outstanding essays and interviews. She also said something about strength of undergraduate institution being considered for applicants that look similar on paper. She also told me that they literally throw out apps with a GRE below 1000, I couldn't believe she actually came out and told me that. I don’t know if it’s really true but she said it. After all of that, they interview the top 80 and she said they are planning on having a class of 36 this year. I submitted my app Sept. 28th and got my call for an interview Nov. 18th. My interview is Dec. 9th at 10am. Hope this helps.

Very helpful information. Thanks for sharing and good luck with your interview.

Just to add I been told by a few school's admissions dept that they don't even look at applicants who don't meet the minimum requirements especially if the school receives a high number of applications.

Has anybody interviewed already? I go in tomorrow and it'd be great if somebody could shed light on the whole process. Good luck to everybody who already interviewed!

I just submitted my DPT app to UCF this week. Do you guys think I applied too late? I see that people already started getting calls for interviews in November and such. I'm kinda scared now

No Worries, you completed the application before the deadline and there is no rolling admissions. Sam Moya mentioned that they interview the top 100 applicants and have early decision for those that have a (old) GRE above 1200 and Pre-req & Cum GPA at or above a 3.5. As long as your stats are reasonably close to that, there should be no issue with obtaing an interview.

GeneParmesan,

How did your interview go?? I have one tomorrow? Any advice? What was UCFs process like?

Thanks!

Looks like I was too late with advice, but maybe somebody else will have a later interview and it will help. They interviewed two of us in a conference room at the same time, alternating questions between us. From what I recall there were 3 interviewers, two faculty member/program leaders and a current student. It's not really a standard DPT interview as most people seem to describe them. They ask you a lot of probing questions that have little to do with physical therapy. The two faculty members were very intelligent guys, and quick thinkers. It seemed like part of their goal was to see how you thought on your feet, how you spoke under pressure etc. Overall though, everybody was extremely nice, they were very knowledgeable and more than happy to answer questions about the program. After the interview they have you answer a case study about ethics in a computer lab, then an optional tour. All in all, just be relaxed, answer honestly, and don't bring up subjects that you can't speak intelligently about, because they will ask you tough follow up questions. Good luck to everybody else who interviews.

Had my interview today and felt it went really well. Hopefully we will hear back soon about their decisions. To those yet to interview good luck!

Hi everyone,
I just joined this forum today! Thanks for all your feedback, I've been reading this blog and it has really helpful info. I applied to UCF in December and I am still waiting to hear back. Did they stop sending invites for interviews already? I am getting really worried that I haven't heard anything yet. Please let me know if you have any info regarding this.

Thanks!

Hey MrDPT120,
Since you just got interviewed, would you be willing to tell us what your experience was? Was it done in groups or alone? Did you get to speak to any of the current students about their experience?
Thanks.

I was told the last interview date is Feb. 3rd. They do not do rolling admissions and will be making decisions soon after that date. I was given about 2 weeks notice prior to my interview if that gives you any insight.

It was a group interview, being interviewed by two faculty and a first-year student. The interview was about an hour long followed by a twenty minute essay question. After the essay, one of the current first-year students took us on a campus tour and talked about the program. Good luck and I hope you hear back soon!

Hello again,
Thanks for the info guys. I am honestly losing hope already. Since the last interview group is Feb 3rd, then they must have notified that last group last Friday in order to give them a two week notice. Does anyone know if they have a wait-list?

My stats were:
GPA: 3.49
Pre-req: 3.3
GRE: 1100, WR 4.5
Hours: 2000+ ortho outpatient, Acute, Neuro and PT aide.

Well, when they called me for an interview it was on a Tuesday and they gave me the option of doing it that Thursday or Friday or the next week, so maybe you still have a chance??? I'm pretty sure the wait-list at UCF is just for those that got interviewed and didn't get an acceptance from that point... I'm not completely sure how they do everything or when they stop calling people for interviews. Good Luck though!!

😀 YEAH....I am going to Disney World!

Translation:
I recieved a phone call from Sam Friday morning and have been accepted into the class of 2015! I look toward meeting all you who plan to accept the priviledge.

Got the exact same this morning, my first acceptance and I'm very psyched. Expecting to confirm my registration some time this week.

Hey Congrads Burly and Gene!

Gene do you mind posting your stats so we can see what the admissions committee is looking for? UCF is my first choice and I'd like to see how I stack up to the students who have been accepted. Now that I know they are accepting, the waiting is going to drive me crazy. Just want to know if I have a realistic shot. Thanks

Sure, undergraduate GPA overall was about 3.5 and my major was Biology. Prerequisite GPA was about a 3.4 or so. If I'm remembering right, I had about 60 hours of experience, mostly outpatient ortho. I had some hours at pediatric rehab places, but obviously my observation hours were my biggest weakness. 1320 GRE with a 4.0 writing. Not sure exactly what UCF liked about my application, possibly that my upper division grades were all A's and B's. Hope that helps.

Received the call this morning! I will be in the UCF DPT class of 2015! Very exciting moment and am excited to meet all of our classmates. I hope everyone hears good news soon. Congrats and good luck to everyone.

got an acceptance call this morning!

Should I give up hope? I'm assuming they've accepted everyone already. Does anyone know from prior experience how late in the game acceptances can go?
