Okay, the dang UCF requirements confuse me. It's caught me a little off guard (my fault), but I don't really understand what they're asking for.
Is a supervisor letter different? I have a one of those composite letter from my undergrad.
Character letters? wth. I have one from a volunteer coordinator but "One of these two letters may be from an academic peer." so I'm supposed to just have my friend write one? That doesn't seem right.

Here's the link and what they say for non-traditional letter requirements:
College of Medicine – Letters of Recommendation
  • Non-Traditional Applicant – an applicant where at least one year has passed since obtaining the initial bachelor’s degree. This applicant may have completed additional academics possibly leading to another degree, or may have been away from academics for several years:
    • supervisor letters for the three faculty letters
    • two characters letters that would be the same needed for Traditional Applicants
  • two character letters – these letters should be from those who can tell us about “who” you are. Authors may be those who have been your supervisor, friend, neighbor, someone you have volunteered with or shadowed, someone from an organization or club that you belong to, clergy, etc. One of these two letters may be from an academic peer.

thats what they are asking for. a friend is acceptable. I would presume someone who can discuss your character

Thank you, I wasn't sure if I was reading wrong. Do you think using my old boss would work? it's from a non-clinical job and is outside academia. It's also the boss of an experience I put down as most meaningful. It says 'supervisor' so I assume that encompasses bosses from employment. Or in your opinion would a friend be better? Friend makes me a bit nervous because they don't have experience writing letters but they do know "me" better. Even though it says it, using a friend almost seems wrong lol, like using your mom's friend for a reference in high school while applying to jobs.

use the supervisor.

Thank you, will do. I feel like I must mention that I thought the "One of these two letters MAY be from an academic peer," said "must," which was a large part of my freak out. That being said maybe it's finally time to stop ignoring the fact that my eyeglass prescription changed months ago :/

I applied UCF last cycle and they accepted my committee letter as well as 2 individual letters from past employers
