17th vs 29th( USNWR) probably not worth it unless you want to match in Chicago and settle there.

It really depends on how much. Like sticker v sticker probably not but I'd personally be willing to pay 100k more to live in chicago and the slight bump in prestige. Think of a number and calculate the difference in potential loan burdens. That way you'll get a clear picture. Pritzker's good with money though so ultimately I think you'd get better advice once you have the whole fin aid package.

Loved both of these schools. The pros and cons you mentioned are pretty objective, but where does your heart lean? What are your priorities here? How important are prestige (relatively non-factor here anyways), location, cost, class size/culture, extracurricular opportunities, etc to you?

I do hope to match into a competitive specialty like ortho, loved my shadowing experience. I guess you mentioned the prestige difference is negligible to a point UVA also won't hold me back. In terms of class size or teaching style, I seriously don't have a preference.

I guess the thing I am stuck on is staying instate so I can help with caring for my grandmother but I feel like I'm being trapped and I want to go explore a different city. Chicago just looks amazing and I want to go there but if I do I def would be feeling guilty leaving my grandmother.


I know I haven't even been expected but just thinking about this gives me major anxiety.

Check UVA match data for last few years for Ortho.

UVA IS is a great deal. If you are OOS, go with Pritzker.
