UCI Admissions Demeanor

Has anyone else gotten alot of attitude from the UCI admissions people? Ive called twice and both times the lady on the phone was an absolute -----; anyone else get that? are they like that at interviews too?

I have heard that they are the most friendly adcom around--qyite a few people posted that earlier when the secondary was making rounds.
Make sure that you are being polite too!

I haven't called, but when I emailed them I got a very detailed and friendly response, rather than the usual one-liner response. Although you get an answer quicker, by calling you run the risk of bugging the person when they are busy doing seventeen other things. I would only call when absolutely necessary.

The one time I talked to them on the phone they were great. At the interiew, they were super friendly.

I'm not sure about other people having "friendly" calls, but my three calls to UCI have been the worst of all the med schools I called. They are very, eh extremely, rude. And yes, I do act cordially and politely on my end. maybe I just happened to catch them the wrong times.

The one time that I called them I got a heck of a lot of attitude. So far the worst of the bunch that I've had to call. Wake Forest on the other was easily th best.

I got that attitude too. I think they are really busy and deal with a lot of ****. I'm not sure if you guys have tried it, but being a receptionist/secretary is a completely draining job. Although it is difficult I try not to let that person represent the school.

Pinker you are just mad because you are on hold like me. I'm mad too 😡

Yup!! If their intent is to anger their applicant pool, they're succeeding.
UCI's has quickly become my least favorite UC.

yeah they were pretty nice at the interview, they really made an effort to make us feel welcome and they had a pleasant demeanor in general. shrug. hope i get in :\.

The lady I talked to was pretty mean but I really wanna go there so I put up with it. I guess they must be frustrated by a lot of us who wanna go there and keep bugging them ,lol .

Im not saying that I dont like the school because of the people I talk with on the phone, i just wanted to see if others experienced the thing and it seems they have. Additionally, im like the nicest person, especially on the phone; i dont think i can name one person that has had a problem with me off the top of my head (although my neighbor is pissed b.c i wandered into her room and passed out b.c i was drunk) so i dont think that is it; Each time i called near 4:30 so maybe its the same person each time...

haybrant, i wasn't trying to imply that you're not nice. i actually was trying to poke fun (in a nice way) at pinkertinkle and medikit for their grudge against uci b/c of their hold status.

i too have had felt uci's curtness so i know what you mean.

Maybe its because they close their office at 5 and have to get a certain amount of work done before that and take care of things before they close. Maybe try calling at an earlier time? good luck 🙂

but remember. you have CA premeds calling 5 times a day asking about their status. overworked underpaid syndrome at play here.
