How did your UCI interviews go? I looked at the interview feedback on SDN, and it didnt really help. Not enought people responded/info. Can you give me hints or advice? are there actually more than 2 people at 1 time that interview you? thanks alot!

I can't speak for everyone, but my two interviews were chill. There were two interviews, one with a student and one with a faculty member (one-on-one). From what I hear, everyone's was fairly relaxed...just trying to get to know you some more. Hint: I know at UCI they care a lot about your personality and whether you show warmth/compassion/interpersonal skills....that is why a lot of their students are more friendly and social compared to other schools...so keep that in mind for the interview. Gluck! 👍

Really cool. My student interview was actually more difficult than my faculty interview. The MI asked me stuff like ethical questions, and health care topics. I was rather surprised. My faculty interviewer only asked me one question and we conversed for about an hour. The question was to tell him about myself and what important events brought me into medicine. UCI is a cool place, I would be honored to go there.

Like everyone else, my interview experience was very relaxed. I interviewed with one student and one faculty (1:1). The interviews were entirely conversational. No ethical or policy related questions. Everything they asked was related to my application, academic and work experiences.
This was definitely one of my easier interviews...

Good luck!

Sorry, I've been slow on the interview response lately.

This will likely be the most chill interview you have so don't worry. Dean Peterson goes around the interviewees and has everyone mention something intersting/random about themselves. They feed you frequently which is nice for me since I've been hungry at most of my interviews. It was one on one across the board. I'm not sure how many interviewers you will have. I interviewed MSTP, so I had something ridiculous like 4 interviews. However, they were all friendly and had all read my file carefully. My student interviewer was also the most challenging, but must have given me a good review because I was given a slot. He also gave me some good advice about how to handle some problems we have had with anesthesia in our animal model (very useful).

This was also the school who made the best impression on me at the interview. It doesn't feel like its in the middle of orange country strip-mall hell (which it is). The campus is much more open than I expected with better housing and parking than other UC schools. If you want to you can live in Newport. My little sis has an unbelievable place by the water and she is just a wee undergrad.

bty, I do not recommend staying at the Travelodge recommended by the medical school. The shower flooded and I was allergic to something in the place. In the morning I couldn't figure out what was wrong with my vision when I woke up. A quick look in the mirror confirmed -my eyes were nearly swollen shut! 😱
