UCI on hold???

I just checked the status on the website at Irvine and I have been put on hold for an interview. What does that mean?
Is anyone else in the same situation?

Yes, I am in the same boat. It is better than being rejected and you still have a chance for an interview later on. Best of Luck

I'm in the same situation for UCSD, one of my top choices. I'm not sure what it means for UCI, but for SD, most people don't make it off of the hold list, because they never really run out of people to interview...however, there are always a few each year that make it off the list. My heart sunk when I found out that i was on hold, but have faith and a lot of hope.

hey, finnpipette. where did u hear about this? cuz, i was under the impression that a lot of people get off the hold list. i'm also on hold at ucsd, and when i called them, they told me my file would go under review (with a different admissions officer) every month until March or something... 🙁

I have been complete since middle of september, and on hold since this morning. I feel like I am going to die, it's adding up with my rejection from Johns Hopkins over the phone. They could at least send me a letter. I am not even worth 37 cents anymore, since they got my 75 dollars.

Last year, I was put on hold at UCI and UCSD, after a week UCSD took me off the list and rejected me, just like that ...I called them up and they said that I should have sent a letter to their office..."to share new information and why I chose their school"but it was too late for them..my file was already rejected
So I just did that for UCI but nothing came out of it...booooh

If I were you guys I would just do that , who knows that might work for you..

I've been complete at UCI since mid-September and have heard nothing post-secondary. My status page still shows "pending review". This is killing me, as UCI is my top choice out of the schools I was granted a secondary.

when i interviewed at uci, the director of admissions told us that the committee meets about every month (with the first batch of acceptances going out in early nov). it's still very early, so hang in there everyone!

I always heard that they are not rolling and that it doesn't matter when you interview.

Either way, don't worry about it!

last year tons of people were initially placed on hold at uci. it seems like quite a few of them got taken off hold and invited to interview in late winter/early spring.

last year it seemed like ucsd and uci basically placed everyone on hold initially if they weren't going to immediately offer them interviews. then people were either rejected or invited to interview. i didn't have luck w/ ucsd but did get an interview at uci in march.

for those of you that are "pending review"...
my status was "pending review" for about 5 weeks. then suddenly my status was "review in process". about three days after the status change, i was offered an interview. So hang in there guys!!!

for those of you who interviewed at irvine already, do you know when we will hear back? what does it say on your status page? mine just says "on hold" =(
