to the best of my knowledge, UCI does not have rolling admissions...
this it how it works, if you get an interview you get automatically placed on a waitlist!
500 people are interviewed, and of that, 92 acceptances are sent out early in the game, some people accept and some peopel won't!
then, they start pulling people off the waitlist, and they start accepting those! at the end about half the people usually get acceptances...
so my point is, while YES, theoretically they don't have rolling admissions...I knew some people who interviewed in March who got in sooner than people who interviewed in November!
however, the MORE time you are placed on a waitlist, the more chances you get in writing letters of interest to the school, and express your REAL interest in going there..
so that's really true with any school!
however, when you get ANY UC interview...I HIGHLY suggest you interview with them ASAP, since UC interviews are VERY coveted in california!
even with the tuition crisis, UC tuition fees are BY far less than any private school...for some people the difference between 120-200K loans is a HUGE difference from 30K to 60K loans..
and recently, the admissions acceptance standards for UCI is improving dramatically, because Irvine is growing, the hospital acquired a new 200K grant which will be completed in 2007.
the stats for the UCI class of 2006 were 3.72 GPA and 32.4 MCAT I believe..
this year's class I think, 2007 was 3.68 and 31.8 MCAT...
either way, the school is awesome, and I haven't enjoyed life in medical school as much as I thought I woudl....they really REALLY take care of you...
I went to undergrad at UCLA, and I thought life there was a living nightmare...so FREAKING competitive...
so congrats again on getting a UCI interview
😉 I wish you the best with UCSF as well....
I actually interviewed at UCSF, it was my first choice, and UCI was my second...since I already went to UCLA for undergrad...I really really had no intention of going there...and I got accepted to USC, Vandy and GWU, but for me the cost was too much...I couldn't afford it...however, I have friends who chose USC over UCI...
so the choice is really for you...I just didn't want to live in LA anymore, and UCI has its undergrad campus close by, and we have the state of the art gym that was built 2 years ago which is 2 stories!!!! This gym makes LA fitness look weak!!!
best of luck my friend!
