Man, I started this thread back in May, and it seems everyone on this board who was on hold at that time has been accepted off the waitlist.

Am I the only one still on the waitlist????

Hey thanks for the love everyone!!
I wasn't really given a deadline, but I was just told as soon as possible. I'm really torn between schools here. I'm probably leaning Davis, because I've already got housing lined up and my gf and family live up here. But UCI was my number one choice, so its hard to pass it up and i really loved my experience down there, plus it would be some place new which is always exciting. I'm going to try to make decision by Tuesday. I wish I had a little longer tho because I'm going to Newport Beach on the 25th, that would probably help me decide better

congrats moskeeto!!!!! uci and ucd are both awesome schools!
Does anyone else have any news on irvine and the waiting list. Does the comittee meet every 1.5 weeks?
And just a question for all those on the waiting list at irvine.. is there anyone out there who is waiting for uci but is accepted to an out of state school that starts in august.. cuz if so, then we are at a disadvantage.. i'm waiting for uci.. if i don't hear anything in the next two weeks, then basically i'm shipping myself out of cali. what a bummer 🙁

I was in the out of state boat waiting for UCI until last week. It's a good thing they didn't wait any longer b/c I was almost ready to go and buy furniture for my apt in NYC. UCI does take their sweet time though, so everyone keep their hopes up. Just wanted to say CONGRATS to Moskeeto. Only thing I can say in favor of UCI, the beach/Socal girls vs. cows in Davis. Which would you choose(doesn't seem so hard to me...=P).

i am also in the same boat--mcw begins in aug--what out of state are you going to and when does it begin?? we are definitely at a disadvantage so it really sucks!...i called and gayle said to call again on the 21st...that is when new names are going for review off the wl (i guess they pick 10-15 people every couple of weeks)

Thanks NYgirl.

Congrats Lola. Maybe you and Skeet should be a package deal. PS I would def go UCI, but that's just me

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOLA!!!!!!!!!
That is fantastic!!!! way to go. sorry about the overkill on the exlamation points, but I'm really excited for you. thats so awesome.

yay Lola!!!! You get to stay in sunny california!!!

it's taken a while for it to hit me, but i am TOTALLY PSYCHED now!!! thanks for all the congrats even though i've done a disappearing act on sdn lately 😉. it's just soooo slow w/out dsl!

sooo skeeter, what have you decided?

CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seems like this has been a good week for SDNers and UCI. I for one will definitely be attending, already sent in my letter of withdrawal and my Statement of Intent to Register. Irvine is a great city, lived there for 3 years near the end of high school and the start of college, and I'm really looking forward to staying close to my famiily/friends. I have a few friends in the Class of 2006 and they loved their first year of school. Maybe it's just me b/c I didn't enjoy my interview at Georgetown that much(plus they didn't accept me...😛 ), but I can't see too many advantages of going east. Of course there's always the whole "experiencing something new" argument, but looking at your location you're from Northern California so it applies to UCI as well. I hope to see you all on the 27th(start of Orientation). Once again, Congrats!!!

😡 grrrrrr, I have no idea what to do. my gf lives in sacramento and I have a few family members and a ton of friends in NorCal and I love the UCD med center. But god, SoCal and a change of pace/new environment would be soooo much fun, not to mention the chance to be classmates with a living SDN legend. 😉 I think my friend put it best as this is a decision that can't be made sober. I've gotta make my decision by friday, i just don't know what to do. I think the schools are totally equal, so that doesn't help. I guess I may have to flip a coin. congrats again lola, "anteater member".

your decision is really tough, moskeeto. if it were me i'd choose davis, but then i haven't lived in davis for the last four years. i don't know about living there for 8 years, but i suppose you could always live in sacramento for part of it. if you didn't have the girlfriend in sacto i'd say go to irvine. also it depends on the seriousness of your relationship. is your gut telling you anything or do you just keep going back and forth?

woot! congrats lola!!!

yeah, my gut is no help whatsoever, its going back and forth. Its a pretty serious relationship, we've been together for 7 years. If I go to UCD I'd probably only live here for 2 more years and then move to sac. My gf is in a house that is less than 2 mins from the med center, so thats awesome. But she would move next year to Irvine, so we'd only do 1 year of long distance relationship, but that could be a killer, but it could also really help my grades 😉. I'd honestly always wanted to go med school at Irvine and do my residency at UCD, but now its just hard to pack up and leave the family and friends when I know I could be staying. funny, i think this is the hardest decision i've ever had to make and i should be completely gratful for it.

congratulations to lola and moskeeto!!

moskeeto: I had a similar dilemma with a significant other in SF and the choice of UCD vs. UCLA. I didn't know what to do until my friend flipped a coin and said, "heads you're going to UCD, tails you're going to UCLA". It came up heads, and I felt a surprising feeling of disappointment. It was silly, but it showed me that my gut was not as undecided as my head. After a little more exploration & soul-searching, I chose UCLA--I'm in the process of moving now, and even though it's hard to leave SF, I don't regret the decision at all. I am realizing now that I need the change of environment to explore on my own and to fully appreciate SF.

lol, I tried the same coin flip thing last night with my gf. 😀 It didn't work like I had hoped it would.

bump for any new news. (I guess that is redundant; new news)

I am still waiting. UCI is my only hope...

have you tried calling uci? if not, i would strongly recommend it just to let them know you still have a strong interest. other than that i can't offer any advice 🙁.

Hey,
I just got pulled off of Irvine's waitlist and I have this big decision ahead of me. All summer long I was planning to go to the University of Pittsburgh. I am not too sure what to do now. The price difference between the two schools is $80,000 over the course of four years and I can see myself at both schools. Pittsburgh has a better match but UC Irvine is cheaper. Should money be an issue if I have to be in debt? Does anyone have advice?
