I have heard from some of my friends who go to UCLA, repeatedly, that there is a certain group of students at this school that have access to old exams others do not have access to.

What was interesting is that these friends do not even know each other, and have told me this on seperate occasions. This rumor went as far to stop people from attending UCLA as opposed to other schools from what I have heard.

I want to know how true this rumor is, because there has to be a reason behind it if so many people have said the same thing. Now supposedly, do not bash me for this, but this is what I have only heard, it is the Hillel jewish student group that has this access. I am guessing if this rumor is not true, then there may be students with prejudice who started this rumor.

People have access to old exams at just about every school...I don't know why UCLA would be any different. It's fairly simple for someone to get a hold of one and memorize it if they have a friend who took the same course and the instructor uses the same exams over again. It may not be right, but it still happens.

It might not be smart to specifically point a finger at a group... especially when you've stated it's a rumor that you can't back up with evidence. It's just asking for trouble.

Actually it is not a particular group, but many different students have compiled whole sets of old exams due to family members and other friends who took the classes before hand... But really, you do not need the old exams to do well. Just study and you will do fine.

Also apparently UCLA has a testbank where if you donate your old exams, they let you borrow the exams etc for a specific class for the quarter... people doing this for many years creates a large test bank..

Oh, and don't blame a group about heresay.... no offense but it makes you seem like a *****...

No one was blamed. I repeated what I had heard, and was inquiring as to whether it was true or not.

a good rule of thumb is to avoid posting inflammatory rumors about specific groups/individuals unless you have a sound basis for them.

If you want to discuss this issue further, there is a strikingly similar thread already open, you may do so there.

closing.
