Hello, I interviewed 11/10/05 and have been waiting patiently for 1/15/06 (the date the UCLA SOM website says applicants will be notified of acceptance) to come. Unfortunately, this is a Sunday, and I have a feeling acceptances won't come until the 17th! Does anyone know whether acceptances are snail mailed, e-mailed, or phone called?

Thanks!

I went to the Admissions office. They said they're running late. Will be Feburary before first decisions are sent. They said maybe even beginning of March.

Great...more waiting.

Nooo!!! I interviewed in December, and I am already getting ansy. I am really looking forward to whatever date when they begin to make decisions!

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't believe the wait has been extended. How come? Oye.

At least you guys got it out of the way early. Just interviewed today and I have a feeling there will be a very long wait ahead. UCLA was so cool though. Rather go there than UCSF even.

are you freakin serious?! god i can't stand waiting til end of jan....now I have to wait even longer?

I interviewed and go here. I stopped by a month and a half after interviewing.

You'll be okay ... it will make any acceptances even sweeter. This is how it was last year. Good luck! You guys can always feel free to PM me with questions.

You're kidding, right? I interviewed in October and have been anxiously awaiting next week.

O well... at least medical school randomness hasn't changed 🙄

grrrrrrrrr. my bday is on the 18th and in my ideal world, i was supposed to receive an acceptance letter that day and go nuts. so much for that.

i have a feeling its gonna be a rejection letter now that wont arrive til like may.

My b-day is 2/7... Oooh that would be sweet.....

 😍

Anyone know of the acceptance rate (roughly) if one interviews before January at UCLA? Thanks.

Me again ... Anyone know when the committee will meet again?

I went to the Admissions office on Thursday. They are sending out the first round of letters this week! Good luck everyone :luck:

Am I the only one that gets all the confidence sucked out of me when I hear decisions are coming? Is that a natural reaction? Or is it a reality check? I'm losing my mind.

i take it no change in the "final decision letter" box for anyone huh. i mustve checked that thing 203948203894 times today.

haha thanks!

I was just looking for this thread too to type in "... and the silence continues." man i have a feeling the first person was right about decisions not being sent out til feb.

No status change here.... 😳

I looked at all the Smilies trying to determine the one that best fit the mood.

I cannot avoid this thread. Its sad that I have to check every 12 hours to see if anyone has had a change of status. 😎

Don't worry too much. We are all here waiting. Hopefully we have a change of status this week...but I am not expecting anything (but really I am!) 😀

man... this is really starting to kill me slowly.. and softly. Seeing all the excitement and massive anxiety in the UCSF thread is making me really jealous, but happy for them.

cmmonnnnnnn UCLAAAAAAAAAA. i wish i can make it so the UCLA fight song plays everytime this thread is opened.

Yeah its awesome seeing all those ppl getting into UCSF! Lets hope we get some good news tomorrow (at least via the status webpage)!

Has anyone called the office to see when they might start making decisions?

Anyone hear anything yet? Just an FYI--from looking at last year's threads, status changes didn't happen until the end of January and all of the post-interview changes in January were ACCEPTANCES!!! (However, if you didn't interview and get a status change, that means rejection.)

So if you interviewed, keep hoping for a status change SOON!!! It appears that they wait a bit longer to reject or waitlist those who were interviewd--if it goes like last year, anyway. So if tradition holds true, there will be VERY FEW status changes in the first batch, but--last year--all of those mentioned at SDN were acceptances. Good luck to everyone! :luck: :luck: :luck: :luck: :luck:

I called them about a week ago to check on that very issue (I was complete mid-Sept) and I was told that I should hear something (interview invite or rejection) by the end of January

Come on UCLA, where is your alumni love? 😉 🙂

i made a post about this about a month ago.

last year, it seems like the first decision letter wasnt sent out til 1/25 which seemed to include interviews as late as 12/15. However there was another batch of letters sent out a week later on 2/1. im not sure of the dates this latter batch included as they werent discussed in the big 2005 UCLA final decisions thread, which is where im getting all this info from. (UCLA FInal Decisions 2005!! )

you guys should read this thread... its quite interesting and suspenseful.

does UCLA accept update letters? does anyone know what address to send them to?

it seems like this is the address you send everything to.

David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA
Student Admissions
12-105 Center for Health Sciences
Box 957035
Los Angeles, CA 90095-7035

as for who to address it to... i have no idea.

I sent a LOI to UCLA a month or so ago to the above address. I either addressed it to the dean of admissions or to the medical admissions committee. I cannot remember which. 🙂 O well... As far as who it's addressed to I highly doubt it matters as long as it gets into your file.

When I talked to the Admissions office, they said interviews were still being granted......of course the chances for acceptance drop off as the interview season progresses, but I hope that people who have not heard anything yet can still have some hope to at least interview there

Good luck this week everyone! Hopefully UCLA decides on some final decision this week (they said the end of the month)! 👍

Good luck, everyone! Decisions should go out this week, if things are being run anything like last year. I'm excited for you! 🙂

:scared: 😱 :scared:

I've been able to restrain myself to one look during the morning and in the evening.

I am unsure if this is true, but let me get this straight...according to last year:

If you got something dated on your "Final Decision Letter" then that means that you are accepted? Will it say accepted on the website?

If you get nothing that means you are either rejected eventually or waitlisted?

Anybody know? Thanks!

I interviewed in December. If this is true, and I get no letter, I'm going to have a hell of a time wondering if that's because my interview didn't make the first batch of letters, or because I'm waiting on a rejection. Uggggg.....

they send acceptances out in batches. if you are not in the first batch, that does not mean you are rejected. it just means you are not in the first batch. the only rejections in the first batch will be to those who were not interviewed. if you look at the thread from last year (referred to earlier in this thread) you will see that in the first batch, everyone who received a letter post interview was accepted. the post-interview rejections and waitlists did not get sent out until later as obviously those decisions were not made yet. in other words, if you are not in the first batch, you still have a chance of getting in. (it appears that very few people were in the first batch, by the way)

however... keep in mind the acceptance rate is about 4%. and it will not say accepted at your status page. it will just say final decision sent.

Well, last year, everything in the first batch was an acceptance. How it will be this year is really a mystery. It would stink to think that you got an acceptance just because you are in the first batch, only to find out that it was a waitlist. So, if your status does change this week to "final descision letter sent," don't get your hopes up, but if history repeats itself ... you're in good shape. 🙂

If you DON'T get a status change this week (or whenever the first batch of decisions goes out), it does NOT mean that you have been waitlisted or rejected. In fact, after that first batch of acceptances last year, a second one went out a week later. And, I know some people who didn't hear until March or April and still got a straight acceptance. Lots of things could delay a decision ... you never know what committee meeting got canceled, etc.

Lastly, it won't say on the status page whether it is an acceptance/waitlist/rejection. It will just say that a final decision letter has been sent ... which is quite stressful. Lol.

GOOD LUCK! 😀

Oops, I guess billybama stole my thunder. 😀
