Any word?

No change here. I bet ya nothing until after Valentine's Day.

i really wonder whats taking them so long. Have they really not come to a decision on ANY applicants? or are they trying to get a bunch together so they can send them out in a batch to minimize the walk to the post office.

Are they still giving out interview invites?

I think they interview until March/April.

Is UCLA receptive to update letters? For instance, if one of your publications has been accepted.

Thought I'd keep the dream alive by bringing this thread back up. We still habitually checking the status page out there?

The dream is still very much alive. Ive said this before...but lets hope we hear something next week!

heck yeah its alive. my dream for LA will never die, nor will my OCD checking of the status page... EVAAAAAAAR.

I ran into my interviewer in the hall yesterday. She's on the admissions committee. She asked me if I'd heard yet. Maybe that means decisions are supposed to go out any day now?

(She also said she had her fingers crossed for me.... good sign? considering she knows my fate already...)

Wow yes that's definitely a good sign...Congratulations! (Hope that's not premature or anything...)...I just found this thread, by the way...I'm also waiting deliriously for news, checking my status compulsively. Glad to know admissions just seems to be really slow, and I'm not necessarily in the rejection pile yet. 🙄 Mid-February is when i'm betting for...

still checkin my status 3x a day. maybe if i go up to 5x a day it'll get there faster? 😛

+pity+

I wish we could at least do a countdown, but there is no steadfast date to do it...

Oh well....

Probably...

Okay, guys, I finally get to join this thread of anxious waiting! I just interviewed on Friday and absolutely fell in love with UCLA. Can anyone from last year's cycle give me an approximate timeline for when I could possibly hear back from an interview in early February? From personal accounts I've heard everything from mid-March (seems like much too quick a turn-around according to this thread) to mid-May (that would be absolute torture).

Guess what, Labslave! I was one of your tour guides on Friday. 🙂

👍 I was the guy who had the first (1:00 PM) interview, if that helps you remember/identify me at all. Tell them I'm dying to get in!

Yep, I remember you! 👍 I was the one who walked you guys back to the admissions office. I have no input, sadly. Hang in there!

Please god..... no.... more..... waiting. I'm seriously losing it.

Tick Tick Tick Tick......................

No its not unknown hours till acceptance letter

It is less than 5hours from the SUPER BOWL

Let the one American Holiday bring joy throughout the land. 😀 😀 😀

Does UCLA have a program where you can stay with med students for your interview? Thanx!

Yes, you get something in the mail (regarding student contacts) once they have confirmed your interview date.

hi everyone...

i just read the ucla acceptance thread from last year, and wow it just seemed so exciting when those first acceptances started to come...and all those SDNers (UCLAstudent included) were falling on the floor with glee, congratulatin each other...

just wanna say i really do hope you (well, we) all get in and by this time next year are going on road trips and staying up late nights together! 😀

best of luck!

patty

p.s. if i keep posting on this thread, you'll come to know me as a big sap...dunno if you'll like that, hehe, but too bad. 😛

p.p.s. my mom thinks i'm crazy, but i actually interviewed at harvard too and just have this feeling in my heart that i'll be happier at ucla...of course this is all stupid wishful thinkin, since i haven't heard back from either one, but i can't help wondering why i loved ucla more...the environment just seemed more natural, i guess, more real? so tell me, people, why is UCLA (obviously) your first choice?

Yeah that thread IS exciting 👍 . It took me about 3 days to read (cause I was always interrupted with something). I thought about printing it out for about 2 seconds. The best actress on that thread is UCLAstudent, it was very suspenseful when she says she is goes to check her mailbox, then responds to the thread with a single word, "nothing."

I might have to go back and read it again if we don’t start hearing back real soon.

were you born and raised in CA? specifically socal? If so, i'm sure you have a very strong attachment to the location, and realizing UCLA has a top-notch program with an amazing hospital, along with the in-state tuition, the pros of UCLA just simply outweigh that of any east coast ivies. (at least for me, and apparently you)

i did my undergrad at UCLA as well so I have even a stronger attachment to this school.

anyways i feel it. This week is the week. get ready for this thread to just EXPLODE!

6th page!!! Thats insane...I really doubted that it would get this far. Good luck everyone this week!

haha i read that thread sooo many times. I thought the craziest one was that one girl whos acceptance letter arrived in her NEIGHBOR's mailbox. If i were her, I wouldve ran back and embraced the guy (and possibly kiss him) for returning the mail.

omgomgomgomg... it's the 2nd week of feb!!!!!!. you don't think they'll send out acceptances to dec int. people in the first batch too, do you?

by the way, is anyone going to the annual health symposium this year?

Its on stem cell research. 10th Annual UCLA Health Care Symposium

oh i went to that today. totally cool. they basically summed up everything regarding issus with stem cells including biological basis, patent laws, ethics (especially with S. Korea), religious viewpoints, patients, research, prop 71 and its litigation, california's economic issues, public policy and more. took about 7 hours tho, and for some speakers i did feel like i was sitting through the mcat again. what did you guys think?

oh i think youre talking about the other symposium put together by the UCLA center for society and genetics. It's titled STEM CELLS: PROMISE AND PERIL IN REGENERATIVE MEDICINE

The one I linked is an annual symposium put together by the med school. It's next saturday on Feb. 11th. This one is called STEM CELLS: Dispelling Myths & Exploring Truths

I do wish I coudlve gone to the one you went to though. How was it? Was it pretty informative and interesting? or more on the boring side.

it was really well put together, i learned so much , so quickly, my head was spinning. i think the most interesting implication that i'd never thought about was how much influence the media has over stem cells. not just ads for prop 71, but the way that they almost market SC's as completed cures with lots of hype. i definitely felt that they attacked this issue from all angles. they even had a jesuit priest talk about ethical and moral issues against SC.

haha, thanks chobobo for the advice--UCLA all the way! 🙂 and yes GOD this week will be exciting (hopefully)...if i weren't so tired of the wait, i might kinda enjoy the application process--i mean it's kinda an adventure, isn't it? but i guess it doesn't feel that way until you've at least got your first acceptance.

I'll be there on Saturday! Still have 2 interviews, so it will be good background info for later!

OK, so tomorrow is my birthday and I would realllly love a great bday present. Please, for all our sakes, let's have the decisions soon!

:hardy: :luck: 😍 :luck: :hardy:

I can't wait to hear from UCLA. Just got my rejection from UCSF today after interviewing like 4 1/2 months ago. It's either UCLA or my only acceptance at UCSD.

Come on UCLA 😍 GOOO BRUINSSSS!!!!!! (This coming from a Trojan... what an ironic twist)

StevenRF said:

completely understandable my friend. I would feel the same if I were in your shoes. 😀

well, lets see if my initial guess was correct and we get the status change tomorrow.

So instead of checking that damn status page, I've been scouring MDapplicants looking for a definitive pattern as to whether or not people like me get in. Survey says.... I have no idea. Either they need to send these letters, or I'm going to go find members of the adcom and advocate myself. I just need something to do to keep my mind off this ridiculousness.

Happy BDay Dr. Boris!

Hopefully UCLA will show you (and maybe us) some love today via tha infamous status page.

aww i'm really sorry stevenRF to hear about your UCSF rejection. That's really odd that you got a letter from them at this time since I thought the committee only meets once a month on the 15th??

called ucla today and they said there is a whole groups of notifications going out at the end of the month for those who have not been interviewed as yet. they're still offering them but i guess some of us will have to wait to learn more till the end of feb.

Just called admissions office... They said decisions will go out middle of the month.... Happy VDay, I guess...

So hard to wait. I have my last interview at USC on Feb 17. I wonder if I will have it before then. Beggers cannot be choosers, but I'd rather not take the expense if I got in at my #1 🙂

i guess that would be... next week? darn. my prediction was wrong, as usual.

Well, last year, somebody called and got the same message (about being delayed until early/mid-February), but decisions still went out in January. I'd still check the status page every once and awhile, but perhaps not so obsessively. 😉

Hopefully we see something earlier (pulled UCLAstudents old post).
