True the hospital has been getting a lot of bad press lately. I don't think LA county health services would ever let Harbor close. Where would all those traumas and acute choles go to? A lot of the humidity issues have to do with the ORs being really old and run down. They are building new ORs which are slated to open in 2013.
Regarding the residency program, it's a small program, but residents get good training. The program was reviewed by the ACGME this year and was given a 5 year cycle, which is tops, as well as 2 additional resident positions. Harbor has gotten a very bad rep in the past, but recent classes have all had 100% board pass rates and good job/fellowship placement.
