Hey guys.
I just finished all the essays from the UCLA secondary and discovered the had a one-year math req. They also say on their website that they do not accept AP credit. Is this really the case?
How did I get a secondary then?

Should I just apply anyway?

Can you take the math at a community college?

Isn't the requirement math, not calc?

let's not forget the stats requirement as well. that's my problem - 3 years of math and no stats. still have to take stats if i get in 🙁

but if i do get in, then it's one major 🙂

"One year of college mathematics to include the study of introductory calculus and statistics"

I knew it didn't have to be all calc because I remember asking them if a computer science class counts towards the one year and they said it does.

I wonder if an imaginary math class would count as well?

jesus christ just take it and get it over with
calculus is the basic of the basic in mathematics...

Right.

I don't know why I should spend any more time on something that I spent two years on in high school. (AB and BC)

You need the 1 year of math, but if you're deficient in part, you just need to have it done before you matriculate. Lacking something shouldn't keep you from the interview. For example, I have a year + of college math, including calculus, but my statistics is an AP credit, which they won't take any more, and I already interviewed at UCLA this year. When you interview there, they have you fill out a form listing all of the prereqs and if you've finished them or not. They then have you indicate how you're planning to fix any deficiencies, if you have them. I plan on taking statistics next quarter to make up for my missing taking stats in undergrad. Also, the woman I spoke to in the admissions office said that an online statistics course thorugh a reputable institution counts, but if in doubt, check with them to clarify. She also emphasized that it just has to be done before matriculating, not before a final decision is made on an app.

Hope this helps and good luck! :luck:

A.P. Calculus B.C. is one year

and all you have to do is take statistics and calculus 3 in college to meet one year math requirement
