UCLA orientation

Since, I don't get some of the mail that they send out, I don't know if this is old news.

Just to let people know that I talked to Kristy early last week and she mentioned that orientation would likely start on the 15th of September (instead of the tentative start date of the 10th as listed on the papers they sent us).

Also, if you didn't know, Kristy left to go to another department in UCLA, so you should e-mail Evelyn Marques with questions from now on.

yes all that info came in the mail two days ago along with our parents' invitation to our dentist pledge ceremony on the 16th.

Hey ucla classmates,

To all of you who have already started collecting teeth, was it pretty easy calling dentists' offices and asking them to save extracted teeth? Also, how long does it take for an oral surgeon to collect the 150 or so number of teeth we need? Do you think I can have enough by the time school starts? I know we have until January, but I would like to get it out of the way.....I bet most of you are already on top of this. Anyway I plan on calling some offices tomorrow. Thanks

I'm just curious... Any reason why UCLA asks you guys to collect 150 teeth?

I remember looking for those during my freshman year, but my school didn't set an amount we must get..

My friend who is a 3rd year at UCLA said that we don't even end up using even 1/3rd of the teeth they ask us to collect. The reason they ask you to try to get as many as you can is so that you have a selection to choose from when you need a particular kind of tooth.

Probably the best way to get teeth is to ask for them from the graduating dental students who will probably have them left over. I already collected a bunch from the graduating USC class since I knew someone there.

Does anyone know what kind of laptop we will be getting w/ our dental kit? I hope it isn't a crappy brand. Well, see you in about 3 weeks.

Guess who???? 🙂 You know, most oral surgeons are willing to collect teeth for you. Like you had told me before, it usually takes about month. Just call, and you should be ok. Make sure you put your name and phone number on the jar though just in case. My jars are still in the dental offices in CA I left them in while I'm over here in philly...hehe. Definitely, if you start now, you'll have plenty of time to collect teeth by january.
