Offical Guide to Dental Schools states that UCLA interviewed 25 out of state applicants last year and admitted 23 of them...does that seem crazy to anyone else? Any word on this??

thanks...

Looking at it may seem crazy, but you also have to realize to be out of state and get an interview at UCLA you have to be creme of the crop..

sounds more like they interviewed too few and many of the out-of-staters decided not to go. They were stuck in a position where they had to accept everybody just to fill their out of state quota.

according to predents.com, for the 2007 cycle 34 people were interviewed and 28 accepted (not just out of state but overall). the year before it was 22 and 20! obviously there is intense predent.com profile bias, but still. is there anything closer to an early acceptance to dental school?

There is no out-of-state quota. UCLA accepts a very high percentage of their interviewees, both in-state and out-of-state, and for whatever reason they have the luxury of getting most of the people they want. Four of the five people I interviewed with ended up being classmates of mine, so 23/25 doesn't sound all that strange.

what is it with that quote "it tastes like...burning" haha i mean theres i dont know how many quotes from the simpsons but it just seems like that one sticks to you and everyone knows it.. sorry "typing" out loud again 🙂

this guy always makes off comments

schools like ASDOH interview too many people and interviewees have a 1/7 chance of getting in. Why would they interview that many people? Considering that there are 4 interviewees in a group, they're expending much resources in the interviewing process. Why would they do that? To me, it suggests that they're screening largely for a certain type of personality, characteristic, trait, whatever. It must also be a rarer quality if they have to go through that many students.

If a school accepts too many of their interviewees, that tells me they're not looking for much. Numbers dominate the admissions process, not personality. Interviews are technicalities.
