Hi, I was wondering for all you applying to UCLA this year if anyone has received a post-secondary rejection, or if anyone knows if they even send the post-secondary rejction once your file has been in front of the committee...

I visited in person a couple of weeks ago to ask about my pre-interview file, and they said that it was still in committee. I have been complete since the beginning of September, and they explained they send files to the committee at random. That itself was a couple of weeks ago, and I am beginning to suspect that that may be a standard response to keep persistent interview beggers at bay and will eventually send out a huge post-secondary rejection mailing in the future.

Any insight from last year or current year applicants would be appreciated!

Bumping

I'd like to know this too. I've been complete since mid-September and I called a few weeks ago to ask if the fact that I hadn't heard back meant I should expect a rejection... and they said it didn't mean anything. There are more angsty people awaiting interviews on this thread http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=246000 but no info about post-secondary rejections...

I don't think you should be worried (since it won't help anyway). My app was complete in the end of July and I haven't heard anything (not even a secondary invitation).

I doubt the committee reviews every file. First of all, they go through the in-state applicants. Once they have interviewed those and filled their quota they may invite some out-of-staters who are at the top of the top. But I doubt anyone whose credentials aren't in the top 5% of out-of-state applicants even gets their app seen by the committee.

Just to clarify, the OP and I were both asking about post-secondary rejection letters. Since it's a screened secondary and we both submitted the secondary back in September, I would assume someone somewhere on the committee (though I realize maybe not the entire committee) has seen our applications since they decided to send us secondaries...

Yeah, I've been checking the UCLA Status site everyday, since my secondary was COMPLETE in AUGUST. It's been about 6 months with not a word.

I sent in 2 letters of updates/interests, but who knows...

I would LOVE an interview!! :luck:

I know that they officially stop interviewing in April and stop granting interviews in March. But I don't know anyone (myself included) whose gotten an invite in a long, long time.

Oh, I called admissions in early January and they said I would know something in 3 weeks. So I called them last week. And they said I would know something in 3 weeks. Anyone see a pattern here?

Yeah, I get the feeling that most secondary-complete-since-September files are in their "pre-interview rejections to be mailed Mid-march" pile....

Yeah, I agree. I just don't see how this turns into an invite at this point. Oh well.
