Hi Folks,

For those of you that have interviewed at UCLA, do you know how the review process works. I understand that no one is told of an acceptance before January, but when do the committees start meeting. I know they work on a subcommittee basis, but anyone have any additional information. And do applicants have to be accepted through two committees.

Just curious...

I would also like to inquire on this topic. I'm VERY far away, but I would like to get started. Thanks for any responses.

I would be interested in knowing this also. They told us absolutely nothing at the interview--they didn't even tell us the January time frame mentioned above.

I also have a question for those of you who have gotten UCLA invites. When were you guys complete and how long after you were complete did you get your invites? Thanks!

Acceptance do not go out until late January and most people hear later than that. UCLA only accepts 160 people. After May 15th, more acceptances are given out to fill the class up. Once faculty member reviews all applications and grants interviews so you can get an interview really late and have a good chance of getting in. Once given an interview, your application is looked at by a smaller committee. Smaller committees are made up of senior faculty and second year students. Students, including the second year student that interviewed you, rate each applicant. The head of the committee then takes your application and presents it to the main committee (more of a formality). Those who were rated high, are offered acceptances, those who were ranked lower are either rejected or waitlisted. People who interview late and receive a high score are not waitlisted... instead you will receive an acceptance shortly after May 15th. Please be patient because UCLA is very slow, but worth it. I got to go get ready for our Halloween party! But if you have any questions, please email me. Also, UCLA's interview day sucks, but don't let that discourage you from attending UCLA. I love it here!! Lastly, please take advantage of the student host program... this gives you a great chance to meet current first years and see if you would want to come here. If you don't receive information about the student host program, please feel free to contact me. I know some of the student hosts.

Ok guys, good luck... this will be a long year, but come summer, when you guys are getting ready to start med school, you'll remeber this time, and realize it wasn't so bad.
