Seeking advice on UCLA's secondary.

At the bottom of each "experience" section, it asks permission to contact your supervisors. For dental experience and work experience, I have no problem saying yes, all of my mentors/supervisors know me, have a great understanding of what I bring to the table...for the community service section.. I think it's a different story. A couple of the organization's I did community service with were big-as a result, I didn't really interact with the 'supervisor' much, I was just there to volunteer; I can look up contact information for them online, but I'm sure it'd be weird if they picked up the phone and it was UCLA asking questions about a person they barely know (or barley remember) 😎

So my question: In your opinion (obviously no one knows for certain), do you think it looks bad to mark it as okay to contact supervisors for work & dental experience, but not for community service? ...should I mark them all as NO to make it look like I'm not trying to hide something? OR should I just say screw it, mark them all as yes, and hope they don't try and contact a couple of them :meanie:

any input is appreciated👍

mark them yes. i'm sure whoever calls the supervisor has an idea of what type of volunteer work you did and so he or she might just ask your supervisor general questions, nothing specific i believe. yeeeee

btw: in the dental-related experiences section under 'Nature of Work' are you going to write everything you did even if it doesn't show up when you view your app? Not sure if that makes sense, but basically, it cuts off what I want said and I'm afraid the adcoms won't be able to see everything

No one contacted the people I listed. I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks for the help 👍
I'm glad I don't have to call the organizations and refresh their memories of who I am haha

I figured that contacting a reference for every applicant...or even every applicant that received an interview would've been a little overboard

For Part 8: Extracurricular Activities

Are you guys going to re-list all your Ec's from your primary onto this section?

I can't decide whether or not to that or just list one important EC...

I'm just going to list a couple of hobbies👍
I wouldn't re-list anything from your primary, I'd use this section to make yourself unique.

just saw this. I listed a couple skills I didn't list in the primary in much detail. I said I'm a woodcarver and how I'm also a community-oriented person. I gave a couple reasons why I think those things would make me a better dental student. You don't have many characters, so don't plan for much detail.

Anyone may PM me if you have questions! I may not see this thread often.
