I just checked my status for UCLA and it says "Interview Requested," "Transcript Requested" with today's date. Does anyone know what this means? I can't really figure this one out and I don't want to get my hopes up and think that this is an interview invite. I haven't received an interview invite in the mail. I just can't wait till tomorrow morning to call the office and find out (I'm being really impatient!), so I appreciate any info you may have.

Well, don't quote me on this, but I'm pretty sure that this means you've been invited for an interview (my status also changed to say "interview - requested" and "transcript - requested" when I received an interview invite). It's probable that your letter has just been sent and hasn't arrived yet. You could always call UCLA to ask. 🙂

Yeap, you have an interview! COngrats... Make sure to bring a book...you'll have way too much time on your hands. Also, you have to SCHEDULE your interview via snail mail.

hell yeah i am.

but i learned a lot about the admissions process while i was over there cause my good friend from hs goes there and hes on one of the 6 committees there.

they have like 6 committees that splits up the files among them all and review their share....and act as an adcom. if there are discrepancies among the voting members there then you get sent to the executive committee and they seal your fate there.

unless you are a unanimous vote right now...most of us waiting for decisions for acceptance will have to wait till march cause thats when the exec. committee is coming in again.

I'm wondering how long they're taking between receipt of the completed secondary and the doling out of an interview invite.

P.S. if anyone else could send in the length of their wait time from completion to interview...that would be awesome.

i got the online interview verification on the 6th of jan or something like that...

got the letter saying i got an interview...but no date posted...about a week later. like on the 13th...

and then i turned in my stuff they requested the next day priority mail and got a call from them giving me a date on the 20th. and my interview was for the 27th.

so about 2-3 weeks before you find out your date.

i was complete late august/early sept.

got the status update for interview early jan.

so for me it was...4 months...

but then again...im no superstar applicant.

i was complete with my secondary on 11/17 and got the status page 1/27. so about 9-10 weeks. but i saw somewhere in this forum that they didn't look at files in order? anyways they called me this morning with an interview on 2/3,4,5 or 6th. i thought they mailed stuff, but they prob called because i'm socal resident. well good luck!

I was complete 9/28 and got the interview invite on 1/27 via the status page. I hope I can interview some time in Feb....

no i did not. figuring a school like ucla wouldnt give a crap about me...i didnt even bother checking the status page after a while. my friend last application cycle waited till after the winter break and promptly got a rejection letter and so when i saw that thin envelope in the mail i was pretty discouraged. i was actually gonna just toss it instead of reading it...but i figured i might as well see how nice they let me go....and to my surprise it was an invite...

so i was pleasantly surprised.

thanks alot. i do i hope i get to go there...

tho a scary thing happened to me tonight....it was around 945pm and i get a call and its from my interviewer...and he said he was going over my file with a colleague and some questions arose and he had to clear some things out so he actually gave me some more interview questions while i was driving to go tutor one of my kids. kinda made me wonder...if its a good sign or bad.

I think it's a good sign that the interviewer calls. He probably needs more information to argue your case at Adcom.

I don't think it's hard to argue AGAINST an applicant cause we all have flaws in our app. It's harder to argue FOR an applicant b/c you need to convince most, if not all, members of adcom to vote in favor of the applicant.

Maybe my absence during your interview day brings you good luck instead 😉

That's crazy! I can't believe he called you at 9:45--though it definately sounds good; I agree with what CalBee on how it's a good sign.

too bad my muscles dont stretch as well as they used to or else id still be competeting right now.

but yeah i was glad i was able to do that. the master was pretty cool cause i cut a deal with him where he would waive my fees if i taught the lower belts. much fun...those were teh days...
