hey could you all post your stats(gpa, mcat including all sections, ec's), residency status and tell whether you were granted interviews and/or accepted at these schools and how you did at other california schools. and also if you applied to harvard or mayo or jhu or nyu and if you were accepted.
thanks, i know there have been similar posts in the past, but i'm only interested in the stats of those applying to california and to elitist schools. particularly, wonder if you could get a 35+ mcat (and that probably means you also have high gpa and ec's) and not even be granted interview at ucla, considering you're not a resident.

I have over a 35 MCAT and I didn't get an interview at any of the schools you mentioned (except UCSD), and I'm a CA resident.

bah, i typed out a long thing about what i think is important to get in uc's

but the stupid sdn website didn't respond again <sigh>

anyways, quickly: imo, the most important thing is to do dedicated volunteer work -- no, not just hanging out for 4 hours at the local hospital. i mean mentoring kids, working with the homeless, getting involved with your community -- at a high and dedicated level

i was about to say you can just do a search for stuff like this, but now i remember the search function doesn't work, so to answer your questions:

3.9 gpa/37 mcat

california schools:

ucsd: accepted
ucla: currently on the waitlist
uci: interview, didn't go
usc: interview, didn't go
ucd: interview, didn't go
ucsf: interview, rejected
stanford: did not apply

mayo, harvard, jhu, nyu:
did not apply to mayo and harvard
withdrew from jhu but they sent me a rejection letter i think anyways
nyu: accepted

My Stats: 3.7 GPA UCLA, 38 MCAT

UCSD-Accepted/ declined offer
UCLA Accepted/ declined offer
DUKE Accepted
Stanford Accepted/ declined offer
Northwestern Accepted/ declined offer
Yale Accepted/ Declined offer
Johns Hopkins -Waitlisted-
Penn-Rejected-

I'm heading to DUKE.

I didn't do very well when it comes to the UCs but here goes:

UCD: interviewed, on hold
UCSF and UCB/UCSF: interviewed, waitlist
UCI: on hold so withdrew
UCSD: on hold so withdrew
UCLA: rejected
USC: rejected

I'm a californian with 3.7, 30 MCAT (which was probably the reason), decent clinical experience, good research, lots of extracurriculars.
i did better outside of california (20 interview offers).
Harvard: interviewed, rejected
Johns Hopkins: Accepted, will withdraw
Stanford: Accepted, will be attending
Dartmouth/Brown and Georgetown: waitlisted, and withdrew
Oregon Health, MCW, Finch- accepted and withdrew

so i think for UCLA and UCSD, good numbers help.
