Hi everyone,
I heard from friends that UCLA and UCSF are sending rejection letters to some people just by viewing the application. This is not a rumor. These people have personally got the rejection letter. I am very much interested in UCSF and was looking forward to an interview, but the process of painful waiting starts. I am really shocked that applicants are getting rejection letter just like that in the early stages even before interviews. I am praying to be atleast called for an interview in UCSF.

Hi buttersnow,
From what I heard UCSF calls only potential students for the second round of the admission process ,so I guess they will reject some applicants and call only a few .there is a written test and dexterity test as well as the personal interview maybe thatz why they limit the number .
I am in the same boat as you ,I got a letter from them saying my application is complete long back.lets hope we will get a call since we didn't get a rejection till now...All the best...

UCSF told me that last year they only interviewed 36 for a class of 24. Beign a UCSF a public school, and cheaper that the other school in its area (UOP), it's probably a first choice for many people, and not many accepted candidates will withdraw their applications.

UCSF's IDP is one of the most expensive programs. If you do the math ( include fee, intruments, stay, books misc )you'll realize that infact UOP is one of the least expensive program too.

Hi Henna,
Just a personal question ,can u let us know as to why u opted for UCSF, when u had been admitted in other schools as well.Is it related to the program, fees , or just personal preferance.I'm sorry if u have already talked abt this in some other thread , maybe u can redirect me in that case .thanks

dear all
I just don't understand why UCSF, as a public school, has an extremely expensive IDP for international " DENTISTs"?
My speculations---
1. the program is extremely advanced and full of high tech stuff, nothing like their regular program ( because the tuition IS NOT!!!)
2. IDP students use golden dental chairs and titanium instruments
Anyone got a clue?

as much as i know, doing the IDP from Univ of Illinois would allow you to practice only in the state of Illinois.

If you get your Call from UCSF/ UCLA or not, can we all post the summary here as follows:
CALLED/ NOT CALLED :
NBDE SCORES:
TOEFL SCORE:
ECE GPA:
That way we all can predict what the criteria has been.
Thanks

Hi
I heard that last year UCSF called 35 or so for 24 seats but all of them were'nt ultimately filled. If I remember correctly the present IDP class has 22.
So this year they are calling in 60 (first hand information) for the interview at a ratio of1:2.5 which seems pretty good compared to LomaLinda and USC.
