I am wondering what the consensus is here. I am from Miami, so Miami is naturally good choice. However, UCLA has the new hospital being ready soon and impressive program.
i think that ucla is much more respected than miami's program. i don't know how important that is to you, but there's no doubting it. in the end it probably does not matter. as in most things in life, you get out whatever you put into it.
hey, i dont know much about the UCLA program, but word is that Miami's program director recently left the program. Reasons arent clear right now, but it doesnt look good
Would it be easier to find a job in the south florida area if I went to UCLA?? Also Anyone know if Miami will give you good opportunities to do fellowships at top programs? And Yes Miami does have a new program director (Dr. Gallagher) I know because I did an AI there. I did not like the fact that there was no opportunity to talk to the residents during the interview. Any other thoughts on the two programs???Thanks
About half of the CA-3 class are going to do fellowships. Most are staying at UM for fellowship (painx4, pedix2, cardiacx2, critical care, OB). 1 is going to Boston childrens for pedi, 1 to cleveland clinic for cardiac, 1 to Hopkins for critical care, 2 more for pain not sure where, 1 more possibly for cardiac.
