For me, the issue would be NY vs LA. Going to med school in each location may increase your chances for the residency programs in the nearby areas too. I suggest you look at the school-specific threads for specific reasons why people like these schools.
It's actually the Icahn School of Medicine now
👍 extremely helpful post, thanks!
It's very early in the game, but I have received interviews from both MSSM and DGSOM. In preparation for my interviews (and if I am fortunate enough to actually get into both at some point), where would you all choose to attend and why?
Are you a California resident? If so I'd pick UCLA due to cost. Also, if you qualify for one of their new full ride scholarships then it would be a no brainer. Otherwise, it's basically a matter of fit and where you'd rather live.

Qualify? They are merit based, I don't think you have to do anything specific to qualify other than be a baller.
Moved to School Specific Discussions, the appropriate forum to discuss specific schools.
I definitely wouldn't stress out too much about the decision until after you have been accepted and actually have a make a decision. Do your best, for all you know the decision may be made for you. 😉

If you're a jew, you should probably go to Mount Sinai.
Someone didn't get into their top choice.
