There are always people who have bad experiences wherever you look. Sorry that you were one of them, but UCLA is a great place to be. That's why so many people dream about going there for d-school and they have the single most undergrad applicants in the country.as a UCLA undergraduate, I assure you UCLA is far over hyped on this forum.
Go to where YOU felt most comfortable during your interviews.

Also 50k is a lot to give up for comfort you felt during a half-day interview.
Did you reject UCLA because of your undergrad experience of have you not heard back?
Fair enough. I agree that OP should go where he feels most comfortable but 50k is a lot of comfort haha and it isn't like UCLA is a miserable place to be!I never said my experience in UCLA was bad I've lived here my entire life. All I said was for the OP to go where he felt most comfortable no reason to make assumptions.
Definitely true. I personally don't like the typical "LA lifestyle" at all but LA is so expansive that there's not really a scenario where you'd be pigeon-holed into following it. Unless you hate having one season and prefer snow sometimes then yeah, you're stuck 😛I think hes tryna say that LA's lifestyle might not be for everyone
if you have a car you can drive from somewhere like culver city and you'd be able to find a place for much cheaper. might be more viable during your 3rd/4th years, but it's something.Lol thanks y'all. I am def leaning toward UCLA now. I did want to Live alone while in D school and that may be near impossible in LA without some serious change.
It isn't the best patient pool but everyone graduated on time this year and I believe last year as well. I'm going to UCLA so I'm probably biased here but that doesn't change the fact that I'd never spend an extra $50,000 to go to another school just to have a better patient pool. If there was a problem with students not graduating or meeting competency requirements, that'd be a different story.
Are you sure? I contacted UMich at the beginning of the cycle to ask about declaring residency after first year and their response was essentially "no." They directed me to this site http://www.ro.umich.edu/resreg.phpyou can declare in state at both schools and surrounding areas of ann arbor are cheaper than westwood, so living expenses would take away at the difference
They *just* changed some requirements and everyone seems happier. Your brother missed out!My brother graduated from UCLA and he would always tell me how crazy the graduation requirements were compared to other schools and how stressful it was to find patients, he still graduated on time though
How are you figuring that UCLA is 50K less? I'm finding it hard to believe that Ann Arbor would cost more than LA for living expenses.
