I just wanted to get people's perspective on UCLA. I really enjoyed my interview day there and thought the residents and the faculty were pretty great. My only concern is that it might be a little case anemic and you don't see as many cases as you see at other residency programs. One of the residents said that sometimes they really aren't that busy on overnight call and sometimes sleep. That being said it has a well-respected name and even though I do not wanted a brutally difficult residency, I do waant to make sure I feel confident in my skills especially if I end up going into private practice. I'm also looking at USC and UCSD so comparisons would be helpful.

Any insight you guys would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

I will rank them like this: UCLA >=UCSD>>USC

USC is not as academic as the other two. Outside California it is not well known. It has a private practice rather than academic vibe. Having said that, it is very well respected among private practices in SoCali. The volume is crazy busy.

UCLA and UCSD: Both very academic. Both have a very good national reputation. UCLA volume is not as high as USC but enough. UCSD is very busy. Both are very solid programs and you can become an excellent radiologist coming from either of them. UCLA and UCSD graduates have first dibs on getting lucrative jobs in SoCali, more than any other program in the country.

Very close call between UCLA and UCSD. Go for location. Compared to LA, San Diego feels quiet but in a good way. If no preference for location, choose UCLA.
