I'm supposed to go there 1/16-1/17 but I think I'm going to cancel...I wouldn't go there over an east coast school plus the timing of it turns out to be bad.

I interviewed in October. The interview is thursday so you need to arrive wednesday. If you aren't interviewing at Caltech you can leave anytime on friday but I wouldn't recommend leaving early like I did. The day is really long (8am to 10pm) because there is a dinner and afterwards the students take you out (which is optional). I wish I would have stay longer on Friday plus I was exhausted! Anyway, it was a really fun trip and I LOVED UCLA.

If you don't have any acceptances yet I would still go. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. I didn't think I would like LA but I ended up loving it there. Bottom line is that UCLA is a top 15 school, so I would go. You might hate it, but at least you gave it a chance.

So would you recommend arriving anytime on wednesday and leaving on saturday? I have a friend there in grad school so I'll just crash with him so staying an extra night won't be too bad

and tell pennquaker to go - be my friend!

oooh you mean thursday night was the long night? i'm confused...i just looked up the schedule online and since i'm not doing caltech i can just leave sometime on friday

Exactly. I would recommend leaving sometime in the late morning/early afternoon on Friday. I had a 915am flight and was so tired. It was my first interview and I shouldn't have booked such a short trip. Plus I feel like I really need a second look now because I didn't see as much as I would have liked (although what I did see I loved).

If you look above you will see that I did tell pennquaker to go. If nothing else you too can hang out in sunny LA!

i live in los angeles so if there's anything i can help with, please let me know!
