I posted this as a reply in another thread, but I figured I'd post it again just in case no one saw it!!

Does anyone have any info about how good UCLA's summer research programs are? I accepted a place in their URI program without really knowing anything about it, the biggest reason is just b/c it's LA!! 😉

Also, how is UCLA's MD/PhD program??

Hey misty, welcome.

As far as UCLA is concerned, you should be very excited!

They are definitely a top medical school, and therefore (although I haven't done it myself) I'm sure that the SURF program is excellent. Really, what means more than the actual program (organization, stipend, etc.) is the research you get to do. And, generally speaking, top schools attract top researchers.
For the same reason, UCLA's MD/PhD program is very good also. Especially the one in conjunction with CalTech.

I would consider UCLA a top tier place. And, seriously, can you think of a better place to spend a summer then scali?

CONGRATULATIONS

So what are your plans? Are you thinking MD/PhD? What type of research are you interested in?

Hey surge, thanks for the welcome 🙂

Yeah I'm definitely thinking Md/PhD is the way to go. I've been working in a neuroscience lab doing research for over a year and a half now and I LOVE it. The research I'll be doing at UCLA this summer will be in neuroendocrinology, so I'm really excited! I've been asking several professors about their opinions of doing research at UCLA and so far I'm thinking I made a good decision about accepting UCLA's offer...your response really helps too! Thanks again!

Hi,

I'm a first year MSTP student here at UCLA, and you've definitely made a great choice to come spend the summer here. It's a great place with oustanding research. Anyhow, if you have any specific questions I'd be happy to try and answer them.

Good luck,

Adam
