I would want to see how everyone ranks these three schools
University of Connecticut (UConn SDM)
Pros- Small class size with low student-to-faculty ratio
- Team-based, MDELTA curriculum
- Early clinical exposure
- Pass/Fail system
- In-state tuition (if applicable) makes it more affordable than many private schools.
- Strong reputation in New England for clinical preparation.
- Smaller school community compared to larger urban schools.
- Limited specialty programs on-site compared to some bigger schools.
- Patient pool smaller than schools located in major urban centers like Philly or Ann Arbor.
University of Pennsylvania (Penn Dental Medicine)
Pros- Ivy League reputation.
- Strong emphasis on research, innovation, and specialty training.
- Early clinical exposure in state-of-the-art simulation labs.
- Wide variety of specialties offered with renowned faculty.
- Located in Philadelphia → large, diverse patient pool.
- Higher tuition and cost of living compared to public schools.
- Large city setting may be overwhelming for some students.
- Highly competitive environment may add pressure.
University of Michigan (UMich School of Dentistry)
Pros- Consistently ranked among top dental schools in the U.S. and globally.
- Extensive research opportunities
- New facilities and advanced simulation labs.
- Wide range of specialty residencies and graduate programs.
- Large patient pool with reputation for excellent clinical training.
- Out-of-state tuition is high.
- Michigan winters can be harsh.
- Large class size may make individualized mentorship harder to find compared to smaller schools.
