Hey All,

I remember during my interview they said the last interview day was 2/14/2008. So decisions should be coming out soon, right? Does anyone have any more specific information?

Thanks,

PMD

no but i would be very grateful if someone would call and ask!

I was told we wouldn't know until March...but that was in November

I was there 2/14, which was the last interview date. March 15 is decision day. They're planning to offer spots to something like 16-18 applicants right away and release the rest of the offers when they get a handle on what the yield would be.

The rest of the offers?? I thought their class size was only about 8-10 is it increasing this year? You'd think they'd only offer about 16 - 18 in order to fill 8-10 spots....

but regardless, thanks for the info!

You would think it would take 2-3 acceptances for each matriculant so I suspect they will accept overall around 25 or so. Does anyone have any historical data on this? I still can't believe that one year they accepted 16 and all 16 decided to come.

Thanks for the info

They were incredibly open about the whole process, the scoring, the ranking, etc.

Basically, they think their yield is going up and they don't want to overfill the class. Historically, the classes size has been 8 students: see their website for the student roster. It's taken more than 16 offers to fill it, though the yield was better last year according to our info session. This year they will take 11 or 12. They speculated that it would take 24 offers but they would be pleasantly surprised if they could fill the class in 20 offers. They were clear these were just off the cuff remark and the actual committee would deliberate on exactly how to do it. So you're looking at somewhere between a 30% and 40% chance if you interviewed.

As far as I am aware, admissions at UCSD is not rolling. Sit tight, you'll hear soon!
