So I was thinking about applying to UCSD for pharm school but my friend advised against it. They have a 3.7 GPA and low admissions rate. I wanna go there b/c it's a public school so it's cheaper for me...

My GPA is only 3.6 (from a 1st tier small liberal arts college) and extracurriculars, if they're that important include research experience - 2 years, resident advisor - 2 years, pharm experience like everyone else, blah blah blah. Biochem major. But then, I have that women/Asian crap against me. So, honestly, do I any shot of getting in or am i just wasting my money (and making them look good by lowering the rate even more)??? No need to be encouraging, just be honest!

Wow, your situation exactly reflects mine. We have the same GPA, major, ethnic group (asian), except for the fact that I'm out of state. However, I know this girl who applied last year with the same stats as us and she got in. What's the harm in trying, even if you don't get in? Just do it, have confidence.

Apply. Your GPA/extracurriculars/pharm experience are good.

Thanks for the replies... you guys made me feel better. I guess all this admissions stuff is just a big risk and I know I can't get in if I don't apply. I think I'll go for it and lose the $100 some bucks and who knows maybe i'll get extremely lucky. I guess that means I'm applying. YAY!

Good luck!

Like many have said before, you'll never know unless you apply!
