UCSD: Hold for Interview

I was put on the "Hold for Interview" list at the beginning of August. Is this the fabled UCSD death hold or do you believe it is because they are just not offering interviews at this point?

I'm in the same boat. Oh well, I've already got 6 interviews elsewhere, so am going to move on from SD. It's a good school but not my top choice.

last year my friend (Bluntman) was put on hold for an interview and eventually was invited. UCSD puts TONS of people on hold pre-interview... the exact amount that comes off i'm not sure, but it is possible to still be invited.

don't understand how you can come to this conclusion..

anyways, hold sucks man i'm on hold at a school also.. and i can tell this can get real crazy later on if we don't have any acceptances and are still on hold/waitlists.

I can't believe that my home state school is doing this to me after all the invites from other schools.. hmph... maybe my essay sucks

I'm on hold too. I was really sad at first, but I just had my first interview, and I've realized that there is life beyond california. And it is good. 🙂

I was put on hold as well. I am a resident and have good stats/ECs/other stuff, similar to the other posters in the thread. I'm disappointed, but what can you do. I've got four other SoCal schools to hope for. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
