you know what bro, or sis, I'm really sorry to tell you this, but that I know of, everyone that I know that applied to UCSD last year and got that hold for interview crap (I got it too!), never received that interview, and from what I heard, it's just a nice way for them to say, SORRY, we don't have a spot for you, I know it hurts, but it's all good, it's their lost anyways right?!
Guys I don't know if this is true or not...........................but I called UCSD and asked them if "hold" was a polite rejection or not......................the lady said no it is not a rejection..........but the people on hold will have to wait until january to be considered. Also it is possible to appeal the hold if you want...................I did.
I think there is this odd ball policy at UCs where the MSTP is contingent upon SOM acceptance, but SOM makes its decision based on in-state outta-state status. But this is strictly prohibited by MSTP's NIH funding. I think UCs way of doing MSTP is totally screwed up. They should have a separate MSTP admissions committee. Honestly I think SOM has no clue about who is more or less qualified as MSTP
