Anybody had a UCSD interview yet?
Just want to gauge my prep, how the day was, questions, etc.

Any idea on how many people are interviewing there? They didn't really inform us.

I know they only accept 30.

Anyways, any tips or other insights are most assuredly welcome!

so, has anyone had their UCSD interview yet? Mine is monday...any help would be appreciated. For those who were interviewed in previous years, what was the interview format, etc? Thanx

I was there this morning. It was pretty mellow and not stressful. Don't worry too much. They are interviewing 250 for a class of 30, so it is a long shot for everyone. You start the day with a 1 hr presentation about the development of the school. It is very helpful for the why UCSD? question in the interview. Then you will get a card with your interview time on it. You either go to your interview right then or spend the next hour writing the essay. They have students there to answer any questions you have. There is a tour of the pharmacy library you can take when you have time b/w essays and interviews. The interview is with a student and a pharmacist. They questions were what you expect, why pharmacy, why ucsd, how are you a leader, where do you see yourself in pharmacy, etc. I will post on the interview feedback if you want to check that too. Good luck.

🙂

Hey az

Thanks for the input. I figured 250, as UCSF seems to be doint he same...and it's a long shot. I know from talking with people int he admissions dept that they rank people 1 to 30 and that's their class...then they rank for the waiting list too. Makes sense, but I didn't know what the process actually is, but its a ranking system.

Good luck to you too and tanyas!

well, at least UCSF will take 122 out of 250..... also, has anyone had their UCSF interview?
az,
what was the essay like at SD? Is it similar to SC format or an actual essay?

i'm headed to ucsf on friday. the ucsd essay is a real essay, not a summary like usc. the dean makes up the topic and gives it to you and you have 45-60 min to write it.

Probably a dumb question, but are you allowed to bring a dictionary and use it?

azpremed, can you post your essay, interview experience at ucsf afterwards?

yeah, i'll try to post interview feedback and/or a post on the forum sometime friday or the weekend.

as for the dictionary, i did not see anyone using one, so i kinda doubt it. it was pretty laid-back though, so it probably wouldn't hurt to ask if you really feel you need it.
