I just found out that you can enroll at UCSD as a grad student in Biology, and basically use it as a post bac program, taking all the pre med requirements needed for med school.

My questions:

I garduated with a degree in Econ, and have not taken any science courses since high school. Has anyone completed this program and not taken any science courses in undergrad? How was it and is there pre-med advising avaiable?

Did any of you get into UCSD med school following this program?
(Sort of a weird question, but that's where I would love to go, and it would make me feel much better if I knew there were some of you out there that had actually been able to make the transition to UCSD med following a nontraditional path)

Any other info or tips on getting into the program?

Please Help!!! I need to figure out if this is a legit program!

You've got to be kidding me... Nobody has done this program. Has anybody considered doing it and knows more info about it??

just graduated from UCSD. From what I know, there is a 5-year BS/MS program, and it's for Biology majors only.

I also know that to get into a biology graduate program at UCSD, and perhaps most places, you should already have a science background anyway, particularly in the biological sciences. Most if not all pre med classes should be done by time of application to a graduate bio program, so there is no point if med school prereqs are what you're after.

Do the MS program to get a Master's, do an informal post-bacc at UCSD if the prereqs are all you're after.
