I believe for some programs, yes. However, the UCSD postbaccalaureate program do not grant any federal loans. So, it will HAVE to be through a private loan.. painful! :inpain::inpain::inpain:

Congrats to you as well! Georgetown SMP and RFU are great programs! Do you know where you will be going?

True, but at the same time, the ucsd program is far more impressive than the others in UC...just gotta talk to students in the programs. To each his own, though. It is an investment. Also, I'm almost positive that all post-bac programs require private loans.
 
I advise everyone to talk to an advisor before turning this opportunity down for financial reasons. Or any reason, for that matter. These forums aren't known for their accuracy!

a lot more support and guidance. the classes you take supplement the MCAT studying you do with your cohort, and the specialized classes are taught by medical school faculty. other postbac programs advise you to take random upperdiv science classes and electives. ucsd's program is designed by the medical school, so they pick classes that medical schools will want to see on your transcript. you won't be wasting your time. not to say that the other programs are bad, to be honest i'm not sure about the northern cali ones. the faculty to student ratio at ucsd's program is great.

That seems like a fair assessment... Are you currently in the UCSD program? I would like to ask additional questions if that is the case.

Thank you for the support, I'm still exploring other options like trying to find a cosigner, has everyone already been approved for their loans? and if so do you all have a cosigner?
 
Can any current UCSD post-bacc students chime in about how grades from the program influence (or not) your undergrad cGPA and sGPA? Can you put the upper level UG science courses you take into UG AMCAS GPA? What about the grad classes? Thank you!

Im starting the UCSD program next month but from what I understand, UGPA is seperate from grad school / post bacc.

Not a current post bacc student, but that is precisely what these programs are designed for, to enhance your undergraduate GPA. Undergraduate course work is going to enhance your undergraduate GPA (if completely successfully). All grades at every college you have ever attended must be added to your AMCAS application including graduate work. Graduate work is a different GPA on the AMCAS.

Thanks for the responses. I was pretty sure that if you did a (formal or informal) post-bacc when you take undergraduate courses, it gets added to your UG GPA - yes, even if it's done as a part of a post-bacc. Someone correct me if I'm wrong!
My question for this program is based on the fact that they seem to have the students take both undergrad AND grad courses. I guess you'd just enter it separately depending on what designation?

I think schools consider them as ugpa but they are reported seperately on amcas.

Yes, they count towards your cumulative undergrad gpa (the same way a JC would), but when you enter it in amcas you put it in under post bacc instead of junior or senior etc. For the academic year.
