UCSD Program & Fellowship Match

Everyone knows the beautiful location of the UCSD campus; I was wondering if anyone could discuss the actual pros and cons of the UCSD IM program and the nature of the program (teaching, ancillary services) and the fellowship potential (esp. for Cards, GI)?

I interviewed there a couple years ago. The program director, Dr. Schoene is one of the greatest people I have met in medicine. Totally dedicated and yet fun and approachable. He was new then, don't know if things have changed, but it seemed like a fairly hard working program, not the best in terms of support from faculty. The residents were friendly and seemed happy. I had the fellowship match list and it seems like more than half the folks stayed at UCSD for fellowship. My impression was that they just didn't want to leave SD. I know the pulm/cc program is top-notch.
