Hello, I am a 4th year DO student, just got a quick question regarding cardiology fellowship match and I really couldn't find any good information so I thought this would be the best place to ask.

Have any DO's matched cardiology with a 235 or lower on step 2? Given someone performs well in residency, is it realistic for a DO with 235 on step 2 to pursue cardiology?

Thank you.

Not a DO but certainly think it would be possible. Cardiology fellowship does look at step scores, but the most important thing for you to do right now is to match in to the best academic im residency (preferably with a track record of taking their own residents on for fellowship), build strong relationships with cards faculty and get involved with research.

4th year is typically a chill year for most people, so if you have time/resources I would recommend learning a stats program like SPSS/SAS/R studio (free). Being able to run numbers for research projects will make you attractive to fellows/faculty who may not have time to do so and also help you get your name on manuscripts.

Yes you can get in with a 235 on step 2. Play the game and create a good resume once application time comes.

Appreciate the help guys. I understand I can't get into top programs but it's good to know the dream is not dead.
