I was wondering what did some SDNers put on their 2 PAGE (?!?!) biographical sketch. What size font did you use?

And, did u fill up all the slots for activities? Thanks for any help. Mine is due Monday...

I made it single spaced. Size 12 font

I used about a page for my life before college. Mentioned my family background..any difficulties at home, like financial. I also talked about a medical conference I went to as a junior in HS and how it affected me. Then in the last page I took a different spin on experiences I talked about in my PS, and also talked about my upward trend in the last two years of college has changed me.

I filled up as many slots as I could and put my significant activities. I don't think putting filler activites would be worth your effort.
I agree...SD was hard!

I did double-spaced 10pt. Times over 2 pages...most of which was about my family life up until college (during & after college was covered in my PS).

I don't think it's necessary to use all the activity slots. Mine was due yesterday and I took it over there today, hope Sofia doesn't mind :scared:

I had a quick question about secondary questions in general. I came from a relatively lucky background. I have not had financial, a few traumatic, but not tragic circumstances, that were unrelated to my academic record.

It seems to me that especially with the UCs, when they ask for something like an autobiography, they are asking for any reasons to either highlight or excuse your credentials.

Thus, something like this UCSD autobiography question can't help someone like me, but may provide valid reasons for stumbles in others.

So I figured that the secondary I sent back should be just a recollection of my past 22 years with as much drama as I could muster. Am I accurate in this assessment or off base? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I think the best thing would be to write about something in your life that makes you unique. maybe a unique hobby or talent. I think its great that they let you write about your life just because everyone is unique in their own way and if you can just bring out something that makes you stand out from the rest it should be okay. good luck ! 👍

hey guys, just wanted to let you guys know, i actually got accepted to ucsd last year for class of 2008, and i deferred a year due to an emergency, so if you guys have any questions about ucsd's process or what not feel free to ask me

as for my autobio, i used font 11 times new roman, and single spaced.....im one of those people who tends to write a lot...........i think this is what will set you apart from others, this is the moment to shine in my opinion.....i just wrote from my heart about growing up in a persian family, my loves and interests in life, the struggles through school i went through in being gay and being physically abused....i talked about my coming out process, my spark for love wanting to head into medicine....and what volunteer work i did that solidified this passion and desire.....i was very open in my autobio, just write about your life so far....it is as it says autobio....and about the slots filling them all up, i mean, if honestly its not meaningful dont bother with it.....its Quality not Quantity that matters

much love
and dont stress, i know its a hard process, just stay calm and collective....itll be over in no time
