UCSD students!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
This is straight from their secondary application:

"6) LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION: Submit a Premedical Committee recommendation or letters coordinated by the Premedical Advisor at your undergraduate school. If you do not have a Premedical Advisor or Committee, a minimum of three letters are required from faculty (senior professors) who can provide a well considered evaluation of your qualifications for the medical profession. (Two of the three must be from faculty at a four-year undergraduate institution in either the Departments of Biology or Chemistry. The third recommendation must be in humanities or social sciences. If you are currently in a graduate program, the third letter may come from your graduate professor.) A MAXIMUM OF FIVE LETTERS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Also, if you are applying for the MD/PH.D program you will need to provide us with a separate packet of recommendation letters. Recommendations mailed prior to our request will need to be resubmitted."

I think he means if he can get one as an undergraduate at UCSD, not if one is required for the med school app.

I thought that was a possibility, but decided to post anyways - just in case! Thanks! 👍

no, because there is no pre-med committee at UCSD

I know for a fact that there is a committee and that a letter from them is required. My UCSD friend said so.

Thanks for your responses! I meant as an Undergraduate at UCSD, does UCSD have a committee. From the responses, I guess they don't offer one, which is good b/c some schools ask why you don't have a committee letter. Thanks again! 🙂

No they don't but their letter services uses VirtualEvals now, which is nice!
Hey, what is virtualevals? Is that run through the Career Services?

yeah, there is no committee, career services has a reference letter file service...where you can set up one VirtualEval account and have them send it off to all your schools for 5 bucks
