I've heard a lot of great responses to this question and feel that I'm in a position to give some good advice about the state of UCSD in general since I graduated from there in 2002. First of all, the school is awesome not only in wheather but also in academics. This carries over into it's strive to become the best in the nation at everything it attempts. If you look at rankings, you will see that it ranks in the top in the sciences and engineering. In addition, it has a reputation of having lots of respect from the community at large. I've found that people that graduate from UCSD end up with more respect over time due to UCSD's increasing prestige. If all you're interested in is doing retail than by all means attend UOP or some other 3 year college so that you can start to work asap. On the other hand, if your true passion is to attend a cutting edge school that is one of the best in the nation at the sciences then hands down UCSD is the place to be. Heck, worst case scenerio, you can always go down to La Jolla shores and catch a couple of waves. Say "Hi" to the beach bunnies for me...... 😍😀
P.S. If I had gotten an acceptance there, I would so be going...... 🙁

One more thing to consider: Though I am not sure what the situation is with rotation sites (your last 1.3 years in school) if you go to UCSD:
At UCSF, in your last year, you may not be living in SF, because there are various rotation sites throughout CA that you can be assigned to, as far south as San Diego and as far inland as Fresno and Davis, so for your last year+ 2 months, you may be doing your rotations in a completely new city...
