Any news...no one answered when i called.

For those of you admitted, did they have a date next to "final decision" on status page.
 
Having been an SDN addict for over a year now, I can say with confidence that San Diego was much better represented on this board last year...at least more acceptances this time last year, I think.

Or perhaps, there are less people on SDN this year that are applying to SD.

Sorry, just venting...since I haven't heard from them and don't want to call...
 
I interviewd October 3rd. Dean Kelley called me yesterday and said I had been accepted.
 
Anyone eles hear yesterday from Dr. Kelly?

I interviewed October 16th. No word yet for me... I was out of town yesterday and now I keep hoping that I simply missed their call or something. Wishful thinking, I think!

Does anyone know how their wait list system works? It seemed a little vague when they were explaining it. Is it good or bad to call them and express interest?
 
if i remember correctly, dean kelly mentioned during interview day that if you didn't receive a phone call on oct. 31st it meant one of two things: 1. you are waitlisted/rejected or 2. your file didn't get to the review committee on oct. 30th. it might not have been reviewed because either one (or both) of the people you interviewed with were not available/out of town on that day and they want both people to be present when they review your file, or one (or both) people didn't complete their evaluation of your interview in time. if this is the case, then your file will be reviewed on nov. 13th and you will receive a phone call on the 14th if you got in. so hang in there, the game is definitely not over. best of luck.

for those of you that did hear from UCSD last week or at the prior meeting, did you receive a letter indicating you were on the "acceptable pool" since I know several of us have not heard anything either way from them.

acceptable pool notification comes by way of letter.

no letter probably means you didn't get reviewed at the last meeting.

i interviewed on at end oct...SO i've got some waiting to do...they say 2-4 weeks (but I'm expecting the 4 weeks). Fingers crossed....glck

call their admissions office...they may have a page on the status page (but i'm note sure)

Yes, they meet on Monday and notify on Tuesday. Lately though, they call applicants accepted only sometimes. Other times, applicants have called to hear they were accepted or placed in the pool.

here is my contribution to help you, FutureDr2011, see your dream of a ucsd thread that is blowing up with responses 🙂

it seems that the committee meets every other Monday or so. acceptance calls go out Tuesday, non-acceptance letters take a bit longer.

interviewed mid-october. waitlisted after the oct. 30 meeting. to me, the "acceptable pool" is not so acceptable. but i will wait patiently for now, impatiently as time goes on 😡

there really isn't more to say. guess that's why i've been so quiet.

who's next????
 
for the record,

i think ucsd gives "acceptable pool" to everyone who is not accepted... i don't think they outright reject. Once it starts getting to April/Mayish they start sending out rejections.

History (my class at least) indicates that a TON of people come off the "acceptable pool" so don't worry too much that acceptable pool is a lost cause.
 
So the adcoms are meeting today? OOOO... gl to all of those who interviewed in late October.

So... how long does it take them to update the status pages at UCSD? Would my page tell me by now whether they looked at my file on Monday? Or should I just sit tight and wait for an "acceptable pool" or rejection letter?
 
Hmmm, I wonder if UCSD Adcom met on Monday and is going to call ppl to notify acceptances today (Tuesday). I hope they are on track and not delayed by the Thanksgiving week. Does anyone know?

UCSD received my primary 9/6, I emailed in Oct. about a secondary and was told my file was going to be reviewed in mid-Nov. again. So don't feel bad about waiting for an acceptance; I'm still waiting for a secondary (that I probably won't get)!

I called them up and they said that they didn't have the results available yet 2 hours ago. They said they would be available by tomorrow morning for sure.

I was looking at my cell phone all day today and after 5, I felt like crying. 🙁

Awww, Liquidshock!!! 🙁 I felt the same way as you did after 5:00 today (but, I am being ridiculous because I'm pretty sure that they don't even have my cell phone number, haha).

But then I got home and read that we all stilll have a chance to hear tomorrow morning... Yay!!!
