"Hi, I'm calling to check on Liquidshock's status"
"AMCAS ID#"
"Don't know, but liquidshock's got like 200 posts"
UCSD Admissions: "WTF, get off the line you troll"

Just kidding, I just got in. OMFG, I can't believe it 😀 They didn't get around to calling people yesterday so definitely give them a call .

wow, congratulations! ucsd is a great school.

i've been in the acceptable pool for a few weeks, so i've been praying that i get a call at some point. or, do i have to wait till all acceptances are doled out first? i need to get my mind off this process.

I'm too scared to call... I'm sort of a weird candidate, and have been getting a lot of rejections and waitlisting recently. UCSD is my number one choice so if I get rejected I think I'm afraid that it will crush my soul or something, haha.

I just got accepted too...I AM SO EXCITED (I called them after two hours in the gym...and when he said he had "good news" I got super excited!!!!

When did you guys interview? I interviewed just two weeks ago...... they said there was a *slim* chance that they'd have our files reviewed by now(depending on our interviewers getting their info back)..... I'm wondering if it's worth calling.....?

Yeah, I interview on 11/20, and we were told that we should not expect to hear anything until about 12/12. I am very excited for everyone that was offered admission today!!! Please send some good vibes my way!

I interviewed 11/14, so it is possible to hear something if it has been at least 2 weeks. Good luck everyone! :luck: :luck: :luck:
 
My interviewer has been out of the area for awhile... so I havent even got a response yet, I interviewed early Nov.

Yes, they said Kelly was very busy with the interviewees yesterday.
 
Hey Whykiki.......

They actually called me a little after noon..... I was just really lucky that my interviewers finished their evaluations quickly. 🙂 They said in most cases it takes 4 weeks (with committee meetings every other Monday) to get a decision.

ahhhh I want to be part of the acceptance list here!!! Interview tomorrrow!! 😱 CONGRATS to all people who got interviews and also to those who got acceptances...I am so jealous
 
O forgot to ask..any advice? I live on campus by the way...so any advice pertaining more to the interview?

I didn't read the second post...

Some advice? Well nothing really unusual. The interview is semi-relaxed (conversational) depending on your interview. Like anyother school, read up on the school, the mission, the student-run clinics, etc.

Be your amazing self...and you'll totally shine 🙂

How do we do that? Do you mean the grad student housing?
 
there's also subsidized apartments on and off campus, which have a long wait (mesa, coast, del sol). but you can get on that list as soon as you are accepted to ucsd (at least you used to).

i would just call the admissions office and ask them what to do. there's a website but i don't remember where.

once you return your intent to matriculate they mail you the info. The UCSD grad student housing sucks (unless you sit on the waitlist for 4 years and get the Coast Apts.) so I wouldn't waste my time.

write a letter saying how much you want to go there. Seriously it tends to work fairly well specifically at ucsd

Wouldn't that sound a little passive? Should I stay away from sounding passive? E-mail or regular mail?
 
I just found out that my interviewer was an executive of the admissions committee. I'm so glad that I wasn't given that information beforehand!
 
I'm reading through the official offer letter. I guess there's no deposit??
 
I think they wanted proof that you are the person who signed it. I asked my sister to sign it for me and it was fine.
